How to configure with WD EX4100 Server?

This seems like it is a nice app with good functionality, but I do not intend to have my laptop/desktop running just so I can watch a movie.
How can I configure this with a Western Digital NAS (EX4100).
It already has a DLNA server and I already use the apparently failing ROKU Media Player (plays 48 minutes and then fails no matter if networked or local connected USB, but that is another issue.)
Is this app tied solely to a running laptop/desktop configuration?
