Dear all,

This is with reference to implementation of Student Database Management Information System (SDMIS) in 2017-18 as Student Tracking System.

We are sure that the work related with U-DISE 2017-18 is in full swing and some of you might have completed the U-DISE data for the year 2017-18.

Further to U-DISE, it is recommended to start the work related with SDMIS (if not yet started).

For implementation of SDMIS 2017-18, as of now there are only two modes (online/web interface and Excel Templates) available in the year 2017-18. You can process the student data from student.udise.in only. The portal student.udise.in is ready for implementation of SDMIS 2017-18 across the country.

For accessing the student portal you will require user credentials. The portal can be used at any geographical level starting from school level to cluster, block, district or state. It is recommended to use the portal and update/add the data from the school level but in case of non availability of internet facility at the school level, the portal can be used at the next higher level where internet facility is available.

The user credentials to state user will be provided by NUEPA. In turn state will be authorized to create district users. Similar process for user creation will be used in cascade mode till school level. Flexibility is built in the user creation module for overruling the restrictions.

As of now, four different User Roles are available in the SDMIS portal.

Admin - Can use all the features/functionality of SDMIS

Approver - Can Approve the students data added/updated in SDMIS

Data Entry - Can Add/Update the students data in SDMIS

View - Can only View the reports/data but can't add/update the data

Detailed procedure on User Management is given in the User Manual.

You are requested to start the SDMIS process in the portal by Promoting the students. Detailed procedure is given in the User Manual.

You can Add / Update students data from the portal/excel template by following the procedure given in the User Manual.

By using the SDMIS in online mode/web interface or by using SDMIS in Excel template you can make use of Dropbox feature of SDMIS. Dropbox is the only mechanism which can help us to track the students, migrate/move the students from one school to another. We can even fetch students from other schools using Dropbox facility. Details of Dropbox is given in the User Manual.
