Hello, all.

The events where I ride with you all are about the only times the Explorer is seeing any road time. So, I'm thinking about selling it.

I don't know how to sell a bike.

I guess I'm sending this out to gauge interest.

Cheers,
Adam

I and a few others have used Motorado for that in the past with good results. However this year I had both my KTM and GS there over from May through October but they weren’t able to sell them. I can understand that with the KTM brand, which has seen some bad press lately, but I was surprised that the BMW didn’t sell.

The market is weird this year and you might not get much for it. Of course spring is a better time to sell a bike than winter so you might want to wait if you can.

Good luck!

Steve

I used a similar consignment place in the Springs last year to get rid of my old Bonneville, and I was disappointed in their recommended asking price - but they did get the asking price, after about a month. Agree the market is weird.

Motorado sold my 2015 TrIumph Tiger 800 earlier this year. The process was fairly painless and they sold it in a few weeks for the asking price. Good experience.

I have used Motorado with success too. My last 2 bikes sold within 3 weeks on Cycle Trader so both work well. The only caution is on Cycle Trader you will get crank and scam emails but they are easy to spot. If I get a serious CT prospect I exchange copies of driver licenses which also helps to weed out scammers.

I just sold my 5x8 interstate trailer with MOTORADO.I dropped it off the weekend proir to Thanksgiving.

Just be aware Adam that Motorado charges an $150 fee up front for posting your bike and the salesman commission is l believe $650 that is deducted from the total  sales price. They also do a complete detail of a bike proir to taking the pictures.

If you decide to go this route, ask for Evan and mention my name

Another recommendation for Motorado. I have sold several bikes through them. Yes they take a fee, but it well worth it in my experience. They tend to have a pretty good handle on what the current market prices are, usually lower than us as sellers want. However they seem high when shopping for a bike, weird.

Years ago, at least 12, I listed my '06 Tiger 955 on Cycle Trader.

I had two scammers both pop up woth the same story. They were buying the bike for a son in law. They were having to leave quickly as the are crew members on a ship that lays undersea cable. They had a check for more than asking. Would I take the check and send the difference to them via wire transfer? And ship the bike to their son in law in, Nigeria.

Sure I would do that, send me the checks! I thought it would be funny. Sadly no checkes were ever sent. I gave them my office address. I guess their ships pulled out before they could send the money.

I like the idea of swaping driver license info.
