Roughly, what route will you take to Steamboat? I wonder about traffic on I-70 due to the usual weekend exodus from Denver.

As of today, I'm leaning toward an early morning departure so that I can get to the Rocky Mountain National Park long before 09:00, and then use Trail Ridge Road. If that doesn't work out, there's CO-14.

I def want to hit Trail Ridge in one direction or the other. Barring that, I think morning traffic on I-70 to 40 ought not be too bad, taking you up over Berthoud Pass.

For those that have not been on I-70 for awhile, the Floyd Hill through Idaho Springs is a roadway disaster.  They cut up and move the lanes for construction so the road is very rutted, it wants to steer two wheeled vehicles so use extreme caution.  For those that come through Kremmling, I recommend CO 134, starts 6 miles north of Kremling, rather than US 40 because of  RV traffic on 40.

RATS,

As previously noted, I will be leading a ride to Steamboat on Friday morning, from Launch Espresso, stands up at 9:30.  Route to include Berthoud, Willow Creek and Gore passes, with a few variations depending afternoon on weather outlook.  I’ll plan to be at Launch around 8:30 for coffee and a bite.  As always, show up full, as our gas stop will be at ~ 130 to 140 miles.  So sound off if you plan to join, so I can be on the lookout for you.

For anyone wanting to get through RMNP on Trail Ridge road, remember there are timed entry now if you don't get in before 9am. I just snagged a ticket for 9am - 11am so that's my time line for going through the park. Perhaps I will meet up with the rest of you for lunch!

The trick was that they released a lot more tickets at 7pm exactly the night before for future reference. I think there was 150 tickets for each time slot, but they went really fast.
