Operation Understanding DC (OUDC) has an exciting opportunity for high school juniors to apply for our Social Justice Fellowship Program!
Since 1993, OUDC has worked with youth in the DMV with the goal of empowering a generation of social justice leaders who will promote respect, understanding and cooperation while fighting to eradicate racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination. OUDC’s signature program is the Social Justice Fellowship, a transformational yearlong program for high school juniors. Fellows are dedicated to learning how to recognize, confront and challenge racism, anti-Semitism and discrimination where they find it and educating their communities on how to do the same. They build bridges and use their skills to bring together people of different races, ethnicities, religions, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities. Students accepted into the program receive a $15,000 scholarship to participate in the program for a year. This scholarship covers expenses for all educational tours, weekend retreats and bi-weekly programming.
The 2021 Fellowship program will begin in June and the application is open until March 31st. Due to the ongoing public health crisis, OUDC will be operating a virtual Fellowship program in 2021. See attachments for more details about what the 2021 virtual Fellowship will look like.
