Builders manifesto and The New Year

I guess all of you are preparing for the mini bash welcoming the New year to be followed by a bigger one once you all exuberate. I wish you all the very best for the year and the years ahead.

 

I came across this interesting piece on transforming leadership. Ideas by Haque in it relate to both the SE course and transformational leadership but more to your own futures. Hope you enjoy it.

The week(s) ahead is often a very anxious time for most of you. I have been receiving some mails from your alumni, some of whom opted out of placement, and can see many of them suggesting that people should follow their heart. One of them who had to switch jobs in a few months even said that "three idiots' should be compulsory viewing for all of you. I hope all of you are able to maintain your calm and faith in yoruself even as the placement team and the institute does it utmost to ensure that you do well. I am reminded of Vijay Mahajan's quote at the SE summit at XLRI last year when he stated 'profit maximization is for morons'. While choosing your career option I hope you would choose to optmize rather than maximize.

 

If some of you would like to discuss your career options do feel free to call or write to me. Let not the anxiety of getting a job cloud your thinking process.
