This summer JCA Interages is offering two Service Learning opportunities:

Opportunity 1)

Come join us for two fun intergenerational bowling outings with members from the JCA's Kensington Club, a social day program for adults with early-stage memory loss. Students (middle school, high school and college aged) may sign up for one or both intergenerational bowling programs.

Whether you're a master bowler or a first-time bowler, all are welcome to come connect and create joyful, meaningful moments. SSL hours granted.

Monday, June 24th: Bowling at Pinstripes (North Bethesda)

2:15 PM - 5:30 PM: Bowling and snacks included

Transportation departs from and returns to the JCA in Rockville, MD

Wednesday, June 26th: Bowlero (Gaithersburg)

9:30 AM - 1:30 PM: Bowling and pizza lunch included

Transporation departs from and returns to Germantown Community Center

Intergenerational Summer Music Program

Location: White Oak Senior Center; 1700 April Lane, Silver Spring 20904

Dates:

Wednesday, July 2nd from 1 PM - 2 PM: Aging Awareness Training via Zoom

Wednesday, July 9th from 10 AM - 11 AM: Session #1

Wednesday, July 16th from 10 AM - 11 AM: Session #2

Wednesday, July 23rd from 10 AM - 11 AM: Session #3

Program Summary:

The JCA Heyman Interages® Center intergenerational programs have brought youth and older adults together for over 35 years. The Interages Center and the JCA Kensington Club, an early-stage memory loss day program for older adults, invite youth volunteers to join Kensington Club members to participate in three intergenerational music classes.

Volunteers and older adults will create a song together using homemade instruments and incorporate movement. Come join us to make meaningful intergenerational connections and have fun!

SSL hours granted for students who attend all sessions and the Aging Awareness Training.
