The R'lyeh Report
Volume 17, Number 01
March 15, 2013
Spring 2013 is almost here! It has been quite an eventful past couple of weeks here in the Bay by R’lyeh. We have been diligently working on our kickstarter campaign as well as working towards releasing several new titles this year.
This year we have released three RPG books so far: Terror from the Skies, Atomic Age Cthulhu and Magic World. Terror from the Skies and Atomic Age Cthulhu are supplements to our best-selling Call of Cthulhu Roleplaying game. Terror from the Skies takes adventurers around the world in order to save it from a malicious race of insects from another planet. Atomic Age Cthulhu contains rules for Horror roleplaying during the 1950’s and 60’s. McCarthyism and the looming threat of WW3 create a sense of paranoia and fear that more mature players may find all too familiar.
The release of Magic World next week will herald Chaosium Inc.’s return to Fantasy Roleplaying. Magic World utilizes rules and mechanics that have worked very well in past publications such as: Runequest, Elric!, Elfquest, BRP, and other titles. There are several books planned for release in the upcoming months to support Magic World: Advanced Sorcery, Magic World Bestiary, Chronicler’s Companion, and a GM Screen. We also have an unofficial forum at brpcentral.com: http://basicroleplaying.com/magic-world/
Here is a quick look at the books which have already been edited and are currently in production. In other words, these titles are currently either in art direction, layout, or proofing. While they are listed in no particular order each of them is expected to be ready for publishing by the end of this year.
Canis Mysterium -- COC Adventure with a Madman and his Ghoul Friend
Advanced Sorcery – BRP/Magic World Sourcebook
After the Vampire Wars – An urban fantasy supplement for BRP.
Enlightened Magic -- BRP Magic Sourcebook
Magic World GM Screen -- BRP GM Aid for Magic World
Astounding Adventures! -- BRP Sourcebook during the Pulp Era of the 1930’s
Secrets of Tibet – CoC Supplement and Adventures in Tibet
Undead & Unbound -- Horror Fiction Anthology
It’s been a great year so far for Chaosium!
