I just saw Mike who is in 104
He was the one who called 911
He heard fire alarm going off and when he realized it was 102 he banged on door and got no answer. His friend went outside and banged on window and no response. The fire people soon came and broke into 102. Abe had apparently fallen asleep and kitchen fire started. Mike says Abe is OK but I don’t know where he is. I can see that the door handle on the unit is messed up but door now closed and fire people have left. Just a bad smoky smell in the building.

Hi Helen,

Thanks for letting me know what happened with Abe in 102.

I will check if John and Santiago can buy some air fresheners for the hallways.

The smell is gone. Abe’s outer door has been damaged by the firepeople breaking in.
It would be good if you could talk to Abe and learn more about what happened.
I’m concerned that this could happen again.

Helen

Hi Trustees,

I just spoke with Abe regarding the incident. He explained that he had been making soup on the stove and fell asleep on his couch. There was no actual fire, the resulting smoke triggered the alarm, which led to the Fire Department being dispatched and breaking down his door.

Abe is replacing the unit door out of pocket and will not be filing any claims with his HO6 insurance.
