7/7/11

Today, Father Nelson reached a milestone. He walked to the pool, swam 5 lengths, did some exercises in the water, pulled himself out, and walked back. Krister (the P.T) was with us the whole way, but Dad did everything on this own.

He was smiling broadly and clearly very pleased with himself.

I assumed he would collapse when we got back to the apartment (about 2PM), but he decided that he would shower, get dressed, and stay up. We went through his mail, made some phone calls, etc. I left around 4PM.

We'll go to the pool tomorrow if he is up to it.

BTW: He has decided to cancel the morning caregivers as of next Monday. I'll be over there with him for a few mornings and see how he does.

BTW2: We haven't received the results from his holder test.  (I delivered the device to Triffon's office yesterday.)

Dear J,
Well they finally got the Internet up at school, (I am still computerless at home... if I send you $300.00 bucks you can get one for me.?  I will check with the guy at school who is SUPPOSED yo be getting mine fixed, but somehow I doubt it is high on his priority list)  Anyway that is wonderful about Dad!!!  Is he still swimming?  Does he have someone come in 2 times a day or is he comfortable with once?   Has he had dinner in the dining room yet?     When is a good time to call him?  I usually get home from work around 3:30 or 4
Thanks
ys

Dad didn't swim yesterday because he had a eye appointment, but prior to that he swam 4 days in a row.  Susan is going to be with him this afternoon; I'd be surprised if he didn't end up in the pool.

He started with only one caregiver (evening) yesterday.  So far, so good.

He has not made it to the dining room yet.  He could if he wanted to, but so far he prefers to eat in his apartment.

I'd say that calling him around 4 or 4:30 would be good.  Sometimes he naps in the afternoons, but he's normally up by then.
