Hi All,

I just chatted with Dad for about 20 minutes.  He sounded great and even upbeat.  His physical therapist plans to take him for a swim next Tuesday the same day he gets back from an appointment with his cardiologist in La Jolla.  This seems a bit ambitious to me, but I hope he is able to do it.

Dad walks to the pool every day and even has gone down the nine steps to pool side aided only with his cane.

Christine arrived today and he seemed pleased about this.

Apparently the swelling in his legs has subsided considerably.  His breathing still seems labored at times, but also improved.

With regard to his cardiologist appointment he mentioned the first and last name of the doctor he will be seeing.  As you may know Dad is understandably annoyed that his regular cardiologist (as well as other cardiologists in the same group) cannot seem to make themselves available to see him.  When he told me he was going to see some internist and mentioned her first and last name I took the opportunity to point out that any deficiency in treatment he has received is certainly not her fault.  He seemed to understand and even agree.  I hope things go well on Tuesday for all concerned.

John, Dad is unsure whether you will be there on Tuesday.  Please let him know for sure either way.

Ciao,
Tony

Hola Hermanos etc.

have just spent 2 days with Father and am very pleased with his progress.  The only real conern I have is his pulse.  It seems to be hovering around 40 and this is too low,  blood pressure is fine, better than mine,  Each day he walks to the pool and some times does a sprint down the hall and back.  Everyone one he meets tells him he looks great, but he says he doesn't feel well..I told him that my doctor friend said to plan on 3 months for him him to get back to normal activity and it has only been two  (It does seem a lot longer than  that but if you count days...) When he is tired his breathing still becomes labored..

One of his caregivers , Melanie, reminds us of Ruth Alvarado in the way she handles him.   As she left yesterday morning, Dad reminded her to bring a peach for his breakfast and she answered "I won't forget, a peach for a peach"  she seems genuinely fond of him.  I heard them bantering and laughing from the parking lot yesterday.

I am in the process of cooking a pot roast and we will have dinner together tonight...
I plan on a trip to the pool with him this afternoon, maybe a few sprints an then a nap.  I have stashed a few mags in the office for downtime.

We will spend the Fourth with Chuck and Jean (from next door) .  Jean called Dad yesterday, so it should be fun.  Emily will e down and John is showing up late...

and that's all folks

Thank you for the update Christine.  It is good to see one of my siblings knows how to use the rlnsr email address.  The others I'm afraid are hopeless.
