Dear Grandpa,

Tony has been up since 4:00 a.m. this morning to meet a couple of deadlines for his project.  It is amazing how focused he can be. The only time I have worked like he does is when I was in college.

It as 9:00 a.m. now. I am able to see the ocean and a few boats. An unusual view after so many cloudy days.

I spoke to my father this morning. He sends his regards and so does my brother Akil. The latest news in India is about a couple of social activists who have gone on hunger fast against current congress government demanding to address corruption in power. Although, according to my father, these activists are politically motivated and one of them has a strong religious agenda.

Each morning as I make scramble eggs for Tony, I think of our ordeal when you were in the hospital. Tony found a recipe on the web which suggests to cook them on low....heat in butter and then fold them in butter after they are cooked. Yum.....but not so healthy with so much butter.

We hope to hear from John today with another update about your progress.

With warmest regards,
Shamim

Dear Grandpa,

A short verse Maya wrote at her school which you may enjoy.

IF I WERE the COLORS of the RAINBOW...........

If I were the color pink, I would be a pretty  dress on a girl.

If I were the color red, I would be a cool pair of high tops on a teen.

If I were the color blue, I would be a ball playing with the kids who
were playing with me.

If were the color green, I would be a leaf on a tree in a school.

If were every color, I would be me.

(She has taken poetic license in choosing pink--her favorite color)

I am baking 20 potatoes this morning for Maya's school for lunch and getting ready for my hike at the beach.

I love you very much and am glad you are getting better everyday.

Yours,
Shamim
