Christian the physical therapist is here, primarily working on Dad's legs.  Earlier he took one walk down the hall with his walker, and another with just a cane.

Christian thinks the leg pain is due to the fact that Dad spends a large amount of his waking hours sitting -- more than before surgery.

Even though he does now like Deeshawn he was quite cordial with her.  Both Deeshawn and Christian seem to be great with Dad.

Hi Ton,

How are things going?

Dad complained of pain in his leg.  Any change in that?

You are there, right?  Or do I have the dates mixed up?

Hola ton,
I am a bit confused about the caregiver..Meeshawn or Deeshawn.  It seems to me that once dad has decided to like or not like someone
he doesn't readily change his opinion.  What does she do that he likes?  or doesn't like?  Knowing this will help me not to lose my temper when I am down there, but I agree with Em...no way am I as kind and loving as T and Shamim..by the way how many times has the mattress been exchanged? I had 5 bucks on 3
lots of love,
C

ps my computer is still in the shop, so I am only able to communicate via email at school...(Of course it is against the rules, but I doubt that they will fire me)

Thank you for the update!

All is going well in SA. The program has turned out to be really great. We have spent this week working in Redhill, an informal settlement of about 2,500 people. We have several projects going there including building a play set and I've been working in the preschool. Today we are off to work until noon and then visiting the district 6 museum. We had a tour of parliament yesterday and sat in on a youth education discussion. Wish I could write more but we are about to take off! Will update soon later.

LOVE to you all!

Sam

P.S. I think the better question is, "What would Samantha Mary do?"

Hi Samantha,

I read your note to Dad, he enjoyed hearing about your exploits.  Jonathan is about to take off from San Diego airport as I write this.  It appeared that he had a good time here.

When do you get back?  I'm off to Chicago on Sunday.

Hi Uncle T,

Glad to hear Jonathan had a nice time. I wish I could have spent more time with him. Cape Town has been absolutely amazing. We're headed to Durban tomorrow morning and I will be sad to leave this place!

I'm happy to have frequent updates of Grandpa's improvement. I hear he is getting ANOTHER new bed.

Have a good trip to Chicago. I'll be back in the states on July 22 and then starting summer school in LA August 1st. I don't have Friday classes so I'm planning on having a long weekend in Santa Cruz at some point!

Lots of love,

Sam
