RLC Harriers Run #875 21 July 2015
Run Site : Bukit Kembara from Kelab Darul Ehsan
Hares : Col Johan & Leslie
Weather : Fine weather
Kelab Darul Ehsan is in the Melawati area, not far from the Zoo.
Still, it is foreign territory and most of us budgeted a lot of
travelling time; so much so, most of the die-hards were at the
run-site with many minutes to spare.
At 6.00pm, we turned left along the road (imaginatively named as Jalan
1) outside the Kelab. After running a while, there was a check which
was broken further ahead into the hill known as Bukit Kembara. Then it
was an uphill climb and again there was a check which caused us to run
about a kilometre only to be met by nothing. Deja vu, it was just like
last week when Wendy Lum (aka Rule Number One) made us run abortively
up another slope for at least a kilometre. Shouldn't there be some
limit to a false trail. When I set, I always limit a false trail to be
under ten pieces of paper. This week and last, we ran one km and when
you double up for the return, 2 km added - surely this is not halal.
Anyway, we persevered along the tracks on this hill, traversing over
an old water pipeline and across many fallen trees. This made progress
along the trail quite obtrusive and there were many bottlenecks.
Soon, the shorter trail marked by triangular paper appeared and we
went along until we reached a steep downward slope. Mercifully, this
was well prepared with regular steps held in place by planks and with
ropes alongside. We reached the road at the point of the first check
and soon we were home. UY was FROP at 69 minutes, followed by many
others like Ann Choo and Boss.
The longer-runners went up another hilly path which looped back to
rejoin the shorter route out. Quiksilver Fox was FROP at 75 minutes
and front-runners like Steven Yong, CCGoh, Peter Leong came soon
after.
It threatened to rain but the downpour did not materialise. With such
dry weather, hashers were very thirsty with the barrel empty before
the charges could be fully laid. Somehow, Mismanagement must come out
with a contingency plan to bring along spare crates of beer wherever
we have guests (we had 6 today). For a Circle to splutter out due to
lack of beer is a no-no.
We then convoyed to Colonel's house for a feast catered by Mohaan who
supplied the food at Good Mood Veloo's run a couple of weeks ago.
Many varieties of meat including vegetarian mutton. Beer flowed and
several kinds of liquor were available. We had a jolly good time.
Thank you, hares for an excellent run and good food and drinks.
Editor's note:
We ran out of beer early because some sod asked the beerman to start
serving beer at 6.45pm - 20 minutes before the first runner came back.
We have now told Aru the beerman as well as club staff that they cannot
take orders from anyone except the GM. Also it is not true we had 6 guests.
Two were claimed FOC by the hare leaving 3 or 4 paying guests. Assistant
onCash who is your sleeping partner will testify to that. On on!
Like the 1MDB saga, it would be appreciated if our roving reporters
will take care to report only what has been verified, thank you.
