The dates will be July 20-22.
Exact events are still to be determined, but we've been tossing around:

Friday (20th) - meet up for drinks somewhere.
Saturday (21st) - evening party
Sunday (22nd) - picnic (Oak Mountain again?)

We were thinking the variety of events would allow everyone to pick and choose.
Bear with us as we try to make this work - it's been a bit of a challenge to make time to coordinate, etc. We're trying.

Will get back to the group soon - please be patient.

Hey Jason -- Thanks for working on this!

If you want help with a venue for the festa, I might be able to help through my church connections.  (Can't promise, but MIGHT).  Especially in the summer -- when things are slower.  The Cathedral, for example, has a really neat hall with a plaza outside that is great for bigger events.  The Rector is a buddy of mine and maybe we could get it cheap!

As I told Jason ---and I know this from having camped there---, Oak
Mountain not only has primitive campgrounds, it also has cabins.
Anyone want to check into getting a cabin for the entire weekend?
Those of us who are coming in from out of town and do not live in the
Birmingham area will need some place to stay. To all those who already
knew any of what I have mentioned here: Please forgive me for telling
you something you already knew.

Hey, I don't know all of the decisions that have been made or if Oak  Mt is.the final  place.  Has anybody considered Mt. Cheaha or Guntersville. Both have cabins and a hotel.   Guntersville has chaleas...( pardon.the spelling plz, that's always been my weakness )....among others...lol.  I've been to both and they have so many thing that we can do...hiking, beach area,  boat rentals etc.   Just me thinking out loud.... I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone again..

That would be fun – but logistically very challenging to coordinate on a large scale.  Since many people will be coming in from various parts of the country and/or world, it’s more convenient to keep events in/near B’ham and to allow time for those traveling from afar to also spend time with family and other non-RLC friends, etc.

The Oak Mountain idea stems back to senior year for the class of ’82.  On the day we were supposed to take the state achievement tests, Mrs. West and Mr. Sullivan “pretended” not to notice that we all left for the day.  We went to Oak Mountain and had a great afternoon.

Anyone is welcome to stay wherever they want, of course.  We’re just trying to simplify things, especially since 3 out of 4 organizers no longer live in the B’ham area.

Don’t know about other parts of the country, but spring has sprung here in the nation’s capital.  80 degrees today – 20+ above normal.  Talk about a perfect Oak Mountain day….

I don't know all of  the plans or if the final choice is Oak Mt..  Has anyone checked Mt. Cheaha or Lake Guntersville ?  They both have a hotel and cabins. And Guntersville has Chealas (pardon my spelling. One of my many weaknesses)...lol... I've been to both and I believe that they have more to do and are a little better.  They have both types of camping and the areas at Guntersville are shaded and
some at Cheaha also.   I'm just throwing another idea out there in case others are interested.  Plz let me know if you are interested and I can probably help getting more info.  Looking forward to seeing everyone.      Lee Anne

Sounds fine to me..I was just tossing that out. Since I still live in the area I guess I didn't really consider all of you who have moved away....
Tks
