Dear all,
I am Sarvesh Gharat, a PhD candidate at C-MInDS, IIT Bombay, advised by Prof. Nikhil Karamchandani and Prof. Jayakrishnan Nair. I expect to complete my PhD in 2027 and am looking for postdoctoral opportunities in the US, Canada, or Europe, starting around mid-2027.
My research spans online learning and bandits, cost-aware model selection, and resource-efficient LLM reasoning. My recent work includes ThinkRetrieve, developed during my internship at Adobe Research and accepted to EMNLP 2026 Findings, and SGHA, on formulating research problems grounded in scientific literature. Earlier, I also worked as a Student Researcher at Google DeepMind on AI for Good, and through various collaborations on the application of Machine Learning/Statistics in Astronomy.
In my research, I care about understanding why a method works, not only whether it works. Whenever possible, I try to pair empirical results with theoretical guarantees or a mathematical explanation of the method’s behavior.
For my postdoc, I want to focus specifically on AI for Science, including AI for AI—using AI to advance machine-learning research itself. I will soon join MBZUAI as a Visiting Researcher to work on multi-agent systems for scientific discovery.

Throughout my career, I have supported complex enterprise environments across Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Ireland. My experience includes administering Linux platforms such as RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu, Debian, and Embedded Linux, as well as supporting Windows Server, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, OpenStack, Docker, Kubernetes, and hybrid-cloud infrastructures.
In my recent roles, I have provided Tier 2 technical support for Azure, Microsoft 365, and Office 365 environments while following ITILv4 practices and Agile Scrum processes. As a Systems Engineer at Dell Technologies, I handled complex hardware, operating-system, networking, SAN/NAS, storage, and DataGuard incidents for customers across the EMEA region. Earlier, while working with the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority environment, I administered critical Linux systems, Oracle ERP platforms, SAP clusters, web portals, and VMware infrastructure, while using Ansible, Python, C/C++, and Bash to improve operational efficiency.
In addition to infrastructure and systems administration, I have substantial software-development experience. I have developed applications using C, C++, C++17, C#, Python, Java, JavaScript, React, Qt, SQL, PL/SQL, and RESTful APIs. My background also includes database administration, Oracle Forms and Reports development, web technologies, DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, networking, reverse engineering, and low-level Windows and Linux programming.
A key example of my technical initiative is **Chimera II OS**, an experimental operating-system and hyper-spatial Wayland compositor project. The project explores advanced graphics and systems concepts, including 4D transformations, dynamic swapchain management, compute-shader post-processing, frosted-glass rendering, damage tracking, and zero-copy DMA-BUF buffer sharing. It demonstrates my ability to research complex technologies, design integrated systems, and turn highly technical concepts into working software.
I also bring valuable communication and leadership experience from my work as an IT Instructor and Coordinator. In that role, I managed instructors, coordinated operational activities, taught programming and systems-related subjects, and translated complex technical topics into clear, practical knowledge. This experience enables me to work effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
I am a dependable, analytical, and adaptable professional who performs well in demanding environments.
