Hi all,

I am writing like to advertise an upcoming workshop at this year's Reinforcement Learning Conference reflecting on the philosophical aspects of RL. Below is a description of the workshop and call for submissions.

Finding the Frame is a workshop for examining the conceptual foundations of reinforcement learning.

We welcome submissions that reflect broadly on the philosophy, practice, and formalisms of RL, particularly work that questions or expands on the concepts underlying the classical RL paradigm.

The workshop features invited talks by Özgür Şimşek, Serena Booth, Sara Aronowitz, and Joel Lehman, who will also take part in a panel discussion. A selection of submitted papers will be spotlighted with lightning talks, and all submissions are invited to present at the poster session. Visit our website for more information, and follow us on social media for updates!

Submission deadline: May 22, 2026 (AoE)
When: Saturday, August 15, 2026
Where: Reinforcement Learning Conference, Montreal, Quebec
Website: https://sites.google.com/view/findingtheframe

Please get in touch with any questions!

Cheers,
- Dave
