Tenure Track Research Positions at the Department of Computer
Science at the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics and Electronics

The Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE) is a
federally funded public center in the state of Puebla, Mexico,
dedicated to basic and applied research. It offers graduate programs
in Astrophysics, Optics, Electronics, Computer Science, Space Science
and Technology and Biomedical Technology. INAOE provides an
intellectually stimulating work environment, undertaking
state-⁠of-⁠the-⁠art research as well as high quality technological
development and graduate courses. The Department of Computer Science
(CCC) is among the most prominent leaders in computer science research
in Mexico, with 28 full-⁠time researchers.

This announcement offers the opportunity to join the research group in the
Department of Computer Science of INAOE to researchers in the following
areas:

Robotics:
The candidates should have a strong background and experience in the
computational aspects of robotics, in one or more of the following
subareas:
machine learning, control, motion planning, manipulation, navigation,
and cognitive robotics.

Computer Vision:
The candidates should have experience and proven knowledge in computer
vision and digital image processing research and
applications. Experience in the use of Machine Learning and Deep
Learning techniques is desirable. Applications are sought in any of
the areas of computer vision, with particular emphasis on biomedical
applications, security, signal processing, and embedded computing.

The candidates aspiring to obtain the position of Tenure Track
Researcher under this announcement, must present: (i) A letter stating
their motivation to work at INAOE, (ii)  A research project proposal
for a middle term (3 years), in less than five pages, including
personal professional development goals, academic, scientific and
technological development aims, highlighting the main foreseen
scientific contributions, and indicating how they will integrate with
the existing faculty of the Computer Science Department, (iii) A
detailed Curriculum Vitae, (iv) Copies of their three most relevant
publications, and (v) Contact information of three researchers of
worldwide prestige that could be asked to provide a letter of
recommendation of the candidate in digital form.
