Postdoc position in Autonomous driving, Explainable AI, Natural Language Processing  -- School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will join a team of interdisciplinary informatics researchers (AI planning and prediction, natural language processing, human cognitive modelling) to work on an innovative project which aims to develop a system which enables human passengers to ask autonomous vehicles to explain their decisions (e.g. "Car, why did you change lanes just now? Why did you enter the junction while that other car was approaching?"). This work will be based on a recent paper published at ICRA'21 (https://www.five.ai/igp2).

This initial position can start immediately and will have a duration of 1 year from the start of the position. We're aiming to get additional funding to extend the position beyond 1 year.

Minimum requirements:
- PhD in relevant subject area (CS/AI/ML, robotics, NLP, ...)
- Proficient Python coder
- Good ability to work in team
- Knowledgeable in at least on of the following: planning and prediction (including reinforcement learning); NLP (human query parsing); explainable AI

Interested candidates should send a current CV (including publications list) and two nominated referees to Dr. Stefano Albrecht s.alb...@ed.ac.uk [by reply to this email, using same subject line].
