Open Applied Scientist Positions at Amazon (Stores Foundational AI Team)

We have two Applied Scientist
positions at the Stores Foundational AI team at Amazon. One position is
aimed at candidates at the first stage of their research career after
PhD, and the other one is aimed at more established scientists with
experience in the
industry. The job will be in-person in Palo Alto, California.
The Stores Foundational AI (SFAI) team builds large language models
(LLMs) specialized in shopping. They are trained on Amazon’s product
catalog and information across the web to assist Amazon’s customers in
their shopping experience. We are also building foundation
models for Amazon entities, such as selling items, customers, sellers,
and brands. These models are used in downstream applications by various
partner teams in the entire Amazon stores.
We are interested in candidates to work on projects related to
Large Language Models (LLMs) Alignment and Personalization. This is a
rare opportunity to develop cutting edge AI/ML technology in these areas
and apply them to problems of this magnitude.
Basic Qualifications
- PhD in relevant fields.
- Proven publication record in AI/ML, Reinforcement Learning (RL), Optimization, and Foundation Models.
- Knowledge and expertise in Deep RL and RL foundations.
- Experience with RL and dialogue management systems and background in personalization and recommendation systems are desirable.
- Good background in mathematics and statistics is always a plus.
