The19th title in the series, Most Wanted was developed by Criterion Games and published by Electronic Arts, just like their 2012 title NFS: Hot Pursuit. Most Wanted combines a traditional favorite of high speed police chases, open world, and countless chanllenges and cars.
I made the mistake of setting overall effects to 150%. The wheel began endlessly banging on my desk, shaking everything, while my car sat idle on the road. I immediately had to ALT+Tab out of the game and reduce it to 100%.
You can already gather my opinion on this experience. The last Need For Speed game that was any good for wheel owners was Shift 2: Unleashed. Even the last title, NFS: The Run by EA Black Box had plenty of controller issues.
thank you for making these reviews man! I appreciate it. I have had your site bookmarked for 2 years and i always check it when a new racing game comes out. The NFS franchise has lost my support until they support the g27. Because once you go g27, you dont go back.
Not bad settings at all. when i left it to the game settings it was pulling to the right. but setup like this its almost perfect. feels good. thanks. using DFGT logitech. if this game was in an arcade. it would have a wheel. why dont they support wheels more. sucks.
It wasn't long ago we learned that the Wii U was getting a special version of Need for Speed Most Wanted, complete with a local co-op mode. I recently went hands on with the game and checked out just how the co-op works, and while it's not a "true" co-op mode in the sense there are separate players working together for some sort of common progression, what is there is a family friendly way to play together.
I'd like to dub the co-op mode in Need for Speed Most Wanted - Drivers Ed. It's actually called "Co-Driver." The way it works is simple - two players can use any combination of controllers and both control the same car at the same time. It's like those cars in drivers ed where both driver and passenger have a steering wheel and gas/break pedal. I was told that the game will bias the Wii U's gamepad, but both players do have full control over the car. You can even use the Wii U Gamepad's gyro sensor to act as a steering wheel if you want.
I know what you're thinking, this doesn't really sound cooperative. If anything it'll be a way to grief the other player. And this is true - until you think about it from a family setting. Perhaps your 4 or 5 year old is learning to play the game. You sit back and watch with the gamepad in hand as they use a pro controller to try to drive. You give them subtle nudges and taps in the right direction when needed. You help them avoid the walls, and make sure they don't over steer on the turns. You teach them to drive without actually interfering. But it goes even further with the touch screen than just steering.
On the touch screen there are one button controls to do things like spin out the cops, turn traffic on and off, or even switch the scenery from day into night. There's also a button that allows you to switch or repair a car on the fly and adjust it's paint job. While some of this is cosmetic, some of it can help someone who isn't the best of a driver in a game like this.
I jumped into a few police chases in Need for Speed Most Wanted with one of the developers. There's definitely a co-op feeling during the intense speed driving, several times he'd give me the heads up of where to go next by looking at the map on the gamepad. In a way it felt like there were two of us in the car with one of them looking at a GPS on their phone.
Need For Speed Most Wanted surprisingly is the best looking console version of the game, I was told the game is actually using the textures from the PC version of the game. Running side by side with the PS3 version it was easy to see how much better looking the Wii U version of the game actually looked. The game is set to release at the end of March and will include some of the DLC from the other versions of the game.
I don't have any training, but I think I know this is a configuration issue, and have tried all that I know. If any of you have had this problem, I would appreciate some suggestions, or fix procedure.
Got nearly the same problem on my Dell XPS 8930 due to the last NW-update in Feb 2023. Disabled the running KillerNetworkService.exe in taskmanager, then I get full (upload)speed on ethernet again. Only problem: After restart it's running again (so always manually switching it off :-/). Not really a solution, but anyway a workaround for a problem we never wanted to have.
(btw. Intel says that the E2400 is now on "community support" - nice word creation - so stay brave...)
I have the same issue with my XPS 8930 w/2400. What I found was that the "Prioritization Engine" switch in the Killer Intelligence Center was on and this messes with the upload speeds. When I turned it off, my upload speeds returned to normal. Unfortunately, Killer repeatedly resets the PE to being on after about two minutes. So, I uninstalled the "Killer Intelligence Center" app and did a reinstall using this link to get a newer version:
1) Go to the windows apps (Windows + I). Uninstall all Killer apps except "Killer Performance Driver Suite UWD". Leave this one alone, uninstall all other Killer apps. After each uninstall, it will ask you if you want to restart your computer. You do not need to restart until you have removed the Killer apps.
6) BTW, leaving the Killer Performance Driver Suite UWD app installed will prevent Intel from forcing a stealth reinstall of the drivers which causes the speed problem to reoccur. I have found this happens after a day or two in other methods of "fixing" this problem that I have tried. The above method has worked for me for over a month without the speed problem reoccurring.

With the Thief series the slow pace make them perfect games to play on the big screen with a controller, However TDM has a lot of keys to set up (like the original Thief) so mapping all the keys to a controller is a challenge and requires some compromises to be made.
I've been playing with a Xbox360 controller for a while now, and think I have a good setup for TDM, with all or most of the functions mapped. For those interested, I thought I'd share it here, and ask for any input you guys have on what could be improved.
EDIT: Changed LB to Run, while Set 2 LB has Creep - figured after playing some more that Run+Jump needs to be possible and Creep is very rarely needed. There certainly are some missions where running jump is a necessity at some places.
The only major drawback with this is the inability to do a proper running jump, so I have to resort to the keyboard for those ultra-rare occasions when it's needed. I am still trying to think of a way to solve it elegantly, maybe a newer version of Xpadder will allow some kind of double-press feature.
@vvGarrettvv - yeah that would be awesome, not sure how much controller support the Doom 3 engine has natively though, and it would be a b*tch for devs to figure out proper default controls to satisfy everyone's play style.
Just wanted to say that I use this loadout (with some modification) for my own Xpadder profile for Thief 1, 2 & TDM fan missions and it works perfectly. It's especially great for Thief Gold & Thief 2 because they support analog movement. It's just sooooo much easier to creep past (or creep behind for a good BJ) an NPC with analog movment on an Xbox 360 controller than it is having to fuss with special movement speed buttons and/or keys. So thanks for that. Been using Xpadder for several years but actually didn't know how to set up the multiple set switch until now. This is the perfect controller scheme for the games, imo. I can't wait for the developers of TDM to implement analog stick support in their excellent mod.
Also I've been looking into using the LS for combined creep, walk, run, but I find it a bit hard to configure in Xpadder, and also I am worried it might lead to situations where you want to creep and pull the stick too far leading to a Run, which gets you discovered... So not sure if it's a good solution.
I basically leave the analog sticks umapped on Thief Gold & Thief 2 and let their native analog support do the rest, and aside from repositioning a couple of controls on The Dark Mod and keeping it as close to the schemes on T1 & T2 as possible so I don't have to remember special keys with the Thief games when I use the 360 controller & Xpadder, I pretty much keep your layout intact.
