We hope everyone’s bees are doing well this winter. We are at the halfway point of our cold season and before we know it, it will be beekeeping time again! If tragedy has stuck your bee yard this winter, consider purchasing a WI overwintered single deep colony or WI spring nuc from Lloyd St. Bees to restock your yard. Our bees stay in WI 365 days a year and are selected and breed from our varroa resistant (VSH) survivor stock. If you’re wondering what makes our stock a cut above the best, well it’s because we cross our varroa resistant queens using artificial insemination in the lab. This way we completely control the genetics of our yards. This science is a powerful tool when combined with our 1-2 year breeder queen selection process. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to know more about our breeding program.
Preorders for colonies will begin February 1st with additional colony reservations available after March 5th. We ask that if your colonies are still alive, that you consider purchasing local queens from us to make up splits instead of reserving a colony. This allows us to reserve more colonies for those that don’t currently have bees. Here are the details for ordering:

o Includes a bottom board, 10 frame hive body, 1 gallon in hive pro feeder, inner/outer cover, 8 deep frames (4-6 will contain brood), marked 2021 Lloyd St. Bees queen

We finally opened up the colonies for the first time since October of 2021 and are excited to report that we had an overwintered survival success of 85%!
What really put a smile on our face was that of these colonies, 70% went into winter untreated.
Because of this, we wanted to take a moment to let you know that we will have additional spring nucs and queens available for reservation.
