Basic Candle Pouring Directions

1.     Preparing the wax: Melt wax in a double boiler (place candle melting pot inside a pot of boiling water). Monitor the water level so boiler does not run dry. You could also use a Crock Pot. Never let the wax exceed 250o degrees F!

2.     Adding scent and/or color: Once your wax has completely melted, add any additives you have selected and gently stir being careful not to add air to the wax.

3.     First pour: The ideal pour temperature is 1700. Fill to the lip of the candle mold. Take care to get the wick in the center of the mold. Let cool about 10 minutes and re-center the wick. Let cool another 30 minutes.

4.     Re-pour: Top off the candle with a second pour.  Gently re-center the wick if necessary. Let cool at least an hour if not longer. Use a cast iron pan to level off pillar candles.

5.     Cure: Allow finished candle to cure for at least 48 hours. It will burn longer and more evenly.
