The suit says the technology is similar to the tail-hook mechanism that grabs incoming manned jets on the decks of aircraft carriers. It claims that Randy McDonnell invented the process in the capacity of president and sole owner of Advanced Aerospace. He founded the firm in St. Louis County prior to the Boeing merger and continues to operate it.
McDonnell filed a companion lawsuit in Washington, D.C., asking the federal government to reimburse McDonnell for profits Insitu and Boeing earned as independent contractors operating drones on behalf of the U.S. military.

The U.S. is now supplying Ukraine with ScanEagle drones. This can spell bad news for Russian generals and ammunition handlers as the drones can help Ukrainian artillery destroy command posts and ammunition dumps.
As part of the $775 million military aid package announced by Washington on August 19, Ukraine will receive 15 ScanEagle drones. The ScanEagles are small but long-endurance UAVs that can stay in the air for almost 24 hours enabling them to provide Ukrainian artillery with real-time imagery and coordinates of Russian troops and facilities.
But for Ukraine, the ScanEagle has several attractive qualities. With the Ukraine conflict bogging down into trench warfare, a drone that can persistently surveil a sector for dug-in and well-camouflaged troops, vehicles, and installations is valuable.
Equipped with electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) and thermal imagers, ScanEagle can relay daytime and infrared imagery back to its operators, who can quickly relay data to Ukrainian artillery. While not exactly expendable at more than $4 million for a four-drone system, they are cheap enough for Ukraine to absorb the inevitable attrition as the UAVs are consumed by combat and accidents.
The use of drones in photography has added a whole new dimension to what can be done. Drones can give a birds-eye view that is quite different from a land-based photo. Software can take multiple photos and make a 360 panorama, or a 2D or 3D model. This can provide a whole new perspective to, for instance, a building construction project. Multiple photos taken from the same location over time can show a sequence of changes. Even videos can be taken, repeating the same flight path, to show changes over time.
Drones provide a unique view, showing objects that cannot be seen from the ground. Drones can be positioned in the same location time after time to take a photograph from the same angle, or video from the same camera path, to easily show changes over time.
Orbital launches by year template needs 17 more yearly templates to be created. I had decided to work on the same, this month. Anybody, interested to reduce the workload is WELCOME. All I need is an EXPERT REVIEW to be done once the template is created / or placed on the respective Spaceflight page (For eg, To check whether only Orbital launches are listed, Manned flights indicated in bold text, Uncatalogued launch failures listed in italics & Payloads deployed from other spacecraft in brackets). Also, Kindly update the below table in order to avoid duplication of work.
I recently noticed that the articles on specific GPS constellation SVs use the USA spacecraft designations, e.g. USA-183 for GPS-SVN 53. While the USA spacecraft numbers are interesting, and well-suited to retention in a list (List of USA satellites), they are not used commonly at all. GPS satellites are primarily referred to by PRN, but because this is ambiguous because PRN slots are occupied by different SVs over time, the SVN numbers are what are used by the GPS community when referring to a particular spacecraft. I would suggest renaming all of the articles on GPS satellites to GPS SVN XX or something like that per WP:COMMONNAME. Objections? Issues? Discussion? siafu (talk) 21:06, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

A new article Orbiting skyhooks and an older but far shorter article Skyhook (structure) need to be merged as they are basically about the same topic. As of January, the popular pages tool has moved from the Toolserver to Wikimedia Tool Labs. The code has changed significantly from the Toolserver version, but users should notice few differences. Please take a moment to look over your project's list for any anomalies, such as pages that you expect to see that are missing or pages that seem to have more views than expected. Note that unlike other tools, this tool aggregates all views from redirects, which means it will typically have higher numbers. (For January 2014 specifically, 35 hours of data is missing from the WMF data, which was approximated from other dates. For most articles, this should yield a more accurate number. However, a few articles, like ones featured on the Main Page, may be off).

He was responsible for the sunshade that saved Skylab, the Lunar Flag Assembly, the Lunar plaque, and the six-iron head that Alan Shepard used to invent the sport of lunar golf. Is there further consensus needed on this topic? Also, at which point do we employ collapsing? For example, GRAIL and GRACE both sensibly can be put in one line each as constellations, but TerraSAR-X and Tandem-X, since they were launched so far apart in time, might be best left separate.
