Brown University Health is offering two training programs listed below:

Medical Assisting Training Program: Workforce Development offers a free 20-week medical assistant (MA) program for those ages 18 and older. This program runs in partnership with The Genesis Center or Community College of RI and prepares its participants with the education and hands-on learning necessary to be medical assistants. Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to receive their basic life support (BLS) certification and sit for the national Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam.


Pharmacy Technician II Training Program: Workforce Development offers a free 16-week pharmacy technician II training program designed for individuals ages 18 and older who are interested in starting or advancing a career in pharmacy. In partnership with the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), this program prepares participants with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to become certified pharmacy technicians. Participants gain real-world experience in both inpatient and outpatient pharmacy settings.

The Department of Labor & Training: DLT is hosting two workshops. The first one is a LinkedIn Workshop on March 25th from 11:00AM-12:00PM at The West Warwick American Job Center. Westbay Community Action: Westbay Community Action will be at the West Warwick American Job Center on April 3rd located at 1330 Main Street, West, Warwick, RI from 10:00AM-12:00PM. Following January, they will be at the American Job Center every 1st Friday of the month. This organization offers services include assisting individuals interested in obtaining their GED, administering CASAS testing, and providing personalized digital literacy training. This training covers essential skills such as using smartphones, computers, and tablets, managing email, working with word processing documents, and improving internet search skills. Additionally, individuals can sign up for NorthStar Digital Literacy assessments, which can allow people to earn certificates in areas like basic computer use, navigating Windows or Mac operating systems, and utilizing tools like Microsoft Excel and Google Docs for those who demonstrate proficiency. The Providence Public Library: PPL will be offering Tech Mondays at the West Warwick American Job Center located at 1330 Main Street, West Warwick, RI. The Providence Public Library offers walk-in and free assistance for adults using computers and mobile devices. Participants will receive help in English and Spanish with completing their own tasks, including navigating the internet, accessing digital resources, and using mobile apps. Community Action Program Providence County (CAPP) is offering two programs listed below.


WIOA: WIOA is a funded training program for individuals between the ages of 18-24 for out of schools and adults. This program is a construction program specializing in lead remediation, removal, other areas. It also includes classroom and work-based learning, and job development support. Youth Employment Program: The key purpose of the Youth Employment Program at CAPP is to provide Providence youth with a summer-long adventure that is more than just a job! We offer workshops, on-the-job readiness, career exploration, financial literacy, and opportunities to continue educational and social growth. Participants learn how to dress for an interview, conduct themselves professionally, honor time commitments and how to maximize on transferable skills. This program provides six weeks of entry-level work experience to youth between the ages of 14 to 24. Prospective applicants must meet other eligibility requirements and are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Selected participants work in variety of entry-level positions at community-based organizations and government agencies. Some placement examples include assisting with clerical duties in local hospitals and libraries, serving lunch at a senior center, helping children at a daycare center, helping with clean up at local parks, & custodial assistant at museums. RI Legal Service: Employment Opportunity Legal Corps Initiative helps secure jobs for disadvantaged individuals by removing legal barriers to employment. Services include expungement of criminal records, the reinstatement of driver’s licenses needed to secure or travel to a job, assistance to obtain an occupational license or prevent the loss of an occupational license, repair a poor credit report that is preventing employment; and assistance connecting clients with job skills and job seeking services after the barrier to employment has been removed. The Rhode Island Map- Workforce Training through Access Point RI Are you looking for work but haven’t yet landed a job? Sometimes it takes both training and work experience to open the door to employment. Through our RI MAP services, we provide both training and real-life work experience. An apprenticeship is a job, and a job seeker would have to be hired by a company that has a registered apprenticeship program (RAP) in place. Once hired, the company will then direct the new employee as to what school they should attend for related training. Related training is classroom training and may take place in the evening and the on the job learning portion of the apprenticeship is during the paid working hours. Veterans INC will be in the West Warwick American Job Center located at 1330 Main Street, West Warwick, RI every Tuesday from 09:00AM-12:00PM and in the Woonsocket American Job center located at 219 Pond Street Woonsocket, RI on Thursdays from 09:00AM-12:00PM. This organization is also at the Providence American Job Center located at 50 Sims Ave, Providence, RI every Monday from 10:00AM-1:00PM. This organization serves veteran clients that are seeking employment. They also work with veteran clients to assist them in their career goals and finding financial independence.


JARC's free job training courses can help an individual gain employment in the manufacturing sector. They will learn valuable skills, including Computer Numerical Control (CNC) and Fundamentals of Manufacturing. They host virtual Application Sessions for the Careers in Manufacturing Programs every Tuesday at 9am and 3pm, and every Thursday at 10:00 am. Anyone enrolled in these programs has free access to math, reading, and computer tutors, as well as financial coaching and public benefits screening.
