Hello folks,

Not too sure this is a beta question, but I figured this would be a
good place to ask. I don't want to have a Rivet dock icon, I'd only
like to see Rivet in the menubar, how do I achieve this?

Scott.

Hey Scott,

I had the same problem as you. I don't understand why Rivet suddenly
needed to run in the dock when previously it would run solely in the
menubar. I don't agree with TLAF if that was an intentional change
because I refuse to run a daemon in the launcher dock when it's
unnecessary. This needs to be either an option that you can set in the
preferences, or reverted back to its original method of menubar only.

I reverted to version 2.6.5 and turned off updates until this can be
resolved. I haven't seen anyone else complain about this yet myself,
but I did send an email to their support team to the effect that I
won't be updating my software until that is fixed.

I don't like having to leave updates off if there are bug fixes in the
future, but it's too annoying to me to have that running in the dock
when it shouldn't be necessary.

I don't know which version you're referring to which requires the Dock icon. Is it the current Version 2.7.1 on the site?

Yeah, the current version is forcing a dock icon.

They had to put it in the dock because it has something to do with the
mac app store i do believe.

I don't think thats right. Rivet isn't in the mac app store as of
now.
Also, you can download Caffeine from the mac app store and it only
runs in the menubar.

This is what they said on the forums when they had them up.

The dock icon can be hidden using instructions found here: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20010701191518268

We shouldn't need to be editing any plist files when this is a feature the application should have.

Still no response about this, classy customer service there.

Scott.

Agreed.  Just sharing a solution until a change is made.
