Greetings Riders!
Our 7th ride of the season will take place tomorrow, May 18th. Right now, the weather forecast suggests a perfect night for making circles - mid-60's and sunny, with little wind. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, I will cancel the ride between 3-4pm in the afternoon.
Last week's ride was fantastic, and I thank you all for your commitment to riding safely. We had some newcomers and they felt the camaraderie and community that these rides are designed to instill.
Nonetheless, here are, once again, the Riverside Rules of the Road:
- The 20-mile route MAX speed is 18mph
- The 18-mile route MAX speed is 16mph
- Give different riders the chance to pull if they move to the front; DO NOT pull if you do not know the route
- When riding on a road with a bike lane, stay INSIDE the bike lane
- When riding on backroads, ride NO MORE than two abreast, and hug the inside shoulder
- Announce if you are passing a rider, and pass ONLY on the left
- On narrow roads with sharp corners, stay SINGLE FILE on the corners (Plummers Lane)
- If you hear "CAR BACK!" hug the right shoulder and stay single file until the car passes
- Helmets and REAR LIGHTS are mandatory for ALL riders!
- Front lights are advisable for the ride home
We are delighted to offer two routes to accommodate the preferences of the group. Feel free to do whichever route "floats your bike." Please note that Dave Berlind, or another designee, will be riding as "Sweep" for the shorter ride, making sure there is "no rider left behind."
Below is the map for each of the routes. PLEASE review prior to the ride.
