IMPORTANT REQUEST:  WE WELCOME NEW CYCLISTS TO THE RIVERSIDE GROUP RIDES; HOWEVER, RATHER THAN INVITE FRIENDS SOLELY BY WORD OF MOUTH, PLEASE FORWARD THIS EMAIL INVITE TO THEM, SO THEY CAN DOWNLOAD THE ROUTES, REGISTER FOR FUTURE RIDES, AND UNDERSTAND THE REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE GROUP RIDE. THANK YOU!

Good morning!

Our 14th ride of the season will take place tomorrow, July 13th

Right now, the weather forecast looks refreshingly good for making circles: sunny and mid-80's with light winds. If the weather takes a turn for the worse, I will cancel the ride between 3-4pm in the afternoon.

As a reminder, here are the Rules of the Road:
  • CHECK AND CHARGE ALL BATTERIES PRIOR TO RIDE (LIGHTS, DERAILLEURS, SHIFTERS, COMPUTER)
  • The 20-mile route MAX speed is 18mph
  • The 18-mile route MAX speed is 16mph
  • Give different riders the chance to pull if they move to the front; DO NOT pull if you do not know the route
  • When riding on a road with a bike lane, stay INSIDE the bike lane
  • When riding on backroads, ride NO MORE than two abreast, and hug the inside shoulder
  • Announce if you are passing a rider, and pass ONLY on the left
  • On narrow roads with sharp corners, stay SINGLE FILE on the corners (Plummers Lane)
  • If you hear "CAR BACK!" hug the right shoulder and stay single file until the car passes
  • Helmets and REAR LIGHTS are mandatory for ALL riders!
  • Front lights are advisable for the ride home
  • All riders should have the equipment and tools necessary to fix a flat tire

Again, we offer two routes to accommodate the preferences of the group. Feel free to do whichever route "floats your bike." Please note that Dave Berlind, or another designee, will be riding as "Sweep" for the shorter ride, making sure there is "no rider left behind."

Below is the map for each of the routes. PLEASE review the route maps prior to the ride.

18-Mile Group Ride (Saucy) Option: 18-Mile Monday Night Group Ride Option

20-Mile Group Ride (Spicy) Option: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50368004

As always, come for the ride and stay for the beer (grab a G&T, as long as supplies last).

PLACE: Riverside Cycles, Newburyport (at the Tannery), 50 Water St.
TIME: 5:20 meet-up in the parking lot, with a 5:30 departure. Text me if you are going to be a few minutes late (508-250-8803).
PLEASE register to receive notifications about all of the Riverside Community Rides. Here are the instructions: Follow this link to add yourself to the Google Group Rides e-mail list. If that does not work, send an email to: riversiderid...@googlegroups.com. Stick anything in subject line.

Hope to see you soon!
