It was 30 years ago that I started Riverside Newburyport with a very small crew and 2 repair stands. At that time, Newburyport was a quiet city before the MBTA came back to town and the real estate market skyrocketed. It was a slow start, but with a passionate crew we managed to pay the bills and build relationships with vendors and enthusiasts as cycling took off in town. Rail trails, bike lanes and paths were created and loved by all and we grew to reach the demand. In around 2010, Tom Reinke came in from Minnesota and was hired as the new manager. He hit the ground running and hasn’t slowed down since!
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute at Riverside and I am grateful for all the people I have met along the way. Thank you for being part of the Riverside community–I hope it has been as rewarding for you as it has been for me. I’m reaching out to you as one of our top customers, to let you know the time has come for me to step aside and let Tom take the helm. Get ready! He’s just getting rolling!
My ultimate goal is that Riverside continues to be at the center of this great community for years to come. Tom has proven that he has the skills and the passion to lead Riverside to that end. For me, I will continue as an employee and consultant to make the ownership transition as smooth as possible, letting Tom focus on meeting all the future challenges of the bike world and, more importantly, making Riverside even better for riders like you. Thank you for all of your support over the years and helping us build such a great community.
All my best,
Aaron Millett
