Hello riders!

What a fabulous turn-out for our first ride of the season. I hope we can continue the momentum.

Our 2nd ride of the season will take place tomorrow, April 6th. Right now, the weather is forecast to be overcast and cool, with some wind. If the weather does not cooperate, I will cancel the ride between 3-4pm in the afternoon.

Once again, I thank you all for reinstating the Monday Night Ride as the designated "Chill Ride." That is, the ride to be used to recover from long weekend rides, get the legs ready for a Tuesday night ride, or become comfortable with group rides. For any newcomers, I will review the Riverside Rules of the Road:
  • The 20-mile route MAX speed is 18mph
  • The 18-mile route MAX speed is 16mph
  • Give different riders the chance to pull if they move to the front
  • When riding on a road with a bike lane, stay INSIDE the bike lane
  • When riding on backroads, ride NO MORE than two abreast, and hug the inside shoulder
  • Announce if you are passing a rider, and pass ONLY on the left
  • On narrow roads with sharp corners, stay SINGLE FILE on the corners (Plummers Lane)
  • If you hear "CAR BACK!" hug the right shoulder and stay single file until the car passes
  • Helmets and REAR LIGHTS are mandatory for ALL riders!
  • With the sun still setting earlier, be sure to have a HEAD LIGHT, as well as a rear light
Again, we are delighted to offer two routes to accommodate the preferences of the group. Feel free to do whichever route "floats your bike."

Below is the map for each of the routes. PLEASE review prior to the ride.

Good afternoon!

Yep, it's a bit chilly and windy, but hey, it is spring in New England. Let's ride.

There will be one concession to the elements, however: we will offer the same routes as last week, a 16-mile route and the 20-mile route. The 16-mile route will largely be shielded from the wind. This option will also provide a sweep for those going at a more relaxed pace or working themselves into the group ride pace.

Here, again, is the 16-mile route. PLEASE review the map (below) prior to the ride.
