The VOAD Update - May 14, 2008

Greetings,
Attached you’ll find a schedule for the EOC training that comes with the VOAD having new position within the Emergency Operations Center. On June 12, 2008, we’ll pick a date that fits well with most everyone’s schedule and plan to attend one of these training opportunities as a group.
Also, I have attached, again, the flyer promoting the Golden Guardian Information Session next Wednesday afternoon. It should be time worth while to listen to Dr. Lucy Jones on how a 7.8 shaker in the area may increase our work load in disaster services.
In the morning, I am leaving for Sacramento to meet up with California OES. Southern Baptists have requested a meeting to discuss how to possibly regain access to do fire debris removal. As you may remember, during the Southern California Wildfires of 2007, all volunteer agencies were prohibited from providing free clean up and recovery services to uninsured and under-insured homeowners…with the exception of the Indian Reservations. This is a multi-jurisdiction issue and we are attempting to engage all jurisdictions. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we meet with California OES.
