Good Afternoon!
It’s great to be back. After a couple of months coordinating fire clean up in several counties, I took a vacation…my family confiscated my cell phone. L
I’m back now and just received an e-mail from Belinda Jones. She provided for us the VOAD Matrix shown above. Please familiar yourself with the list.
This Thursday at 3:00 PM is our VOAD meeting, which will be at the United Way of the Inland Valleys located at 6215 River Crest Drive, Suite B in Riverside, CA 92507. We decided last month to reformat our meetings around one of our functional groups. We will begin this new format and focus on communications. So, let’s make a special effort to invite these particular people.
- Major George White from Inland Empire Group 3 Civil Air Patrol
- Chief Maureen Heimstra, K6BSC from Radio Armature Civil Emergency Services and/or
- Deputy Chief West Kerry Clark, KG6BAO and/or
- Deputy Chief East Harold Witten, K6TQM
- Ed Greany from Riverside County Radio Emergency Associated Communications Team and/or
- Mike Greany
I will represent California Southern Baptist Disaster Relief with our meager communication capabilities. Zuzzette, (I think) can also speak on this topic of emergency communications. Also within this functional group are the areas of information and referral as well as translation. So, if Belinda Jones or someone from the volunteer center can speak to these subjects that will be wonderful…Thanks!
Did you feel that earthquake a couple of weeks ago? My land line and cell service was out for an hour or two. It was a reminder that alternative communication methods will be crucial in times of emergency. Let’s all come together and at least begin conversing on this subject.
