Hello and welcome,
It is great that we will have another female player. I am looking
forward to our next production.
By the way, treat Xan nice or I will have to hurt you. Maybe not too
much, maybe with much screaming and pain. Just always be honest with
him about things and we'll get along fine.

Oh boy, does that sound over protective or what. Sorry Xan and Aja,

I'm afraid I just haven't been able to work on it amid the hassle of having to move house. It's likely to be a couple of weeks yet, but I'll try and get back on it as soon as I can. There's a couple of people I still want to get hold of for dialogue, but I'm sure we could also write in an opening for Jasmine to provide a few tryout lines as the waitress at Amy's Cafe.

By the way, Aja, how do you want to be billed?  (What name do we put in the credits?)

Would you mind recording a few lines just to give the director an idea what you sound like?  I've included a few below.

By the way, what species are you?  Most of us, but not all, are furries.

Okay... here are some lines to try.  The first one is the queen of otter island.  She's a small, timid soul who switches into authoritative mode once she gets going.

"All right... don't panic... let's think this through.  A force that large isn't going to be able to leave the canyon without being seen.  Mulcrum, gather a team of kalans from the lagoon village and the kushtaka camp.  Have them make dives every few minutes and report anything they find."

This next one is Sadie, the girl my character has a crush on.
"Why?  I'll tell you why.  Because you never DID anything.  You never invited me for a swim, you never brought me a flower, you never even shared a fish with me.  How was I supposed to interperet your interest?  ...And now Tak brings these pictures to me... Do you know how I feel, Oren?  Confused.  Terribly, dreadfully confused."

And finally, a little pup.
"Mom, can I go play in the whirlpool cave with the big kids?  Aw mom, but WHY?  I'm big enough!  I won't get drownded!  PLEASE?  You never let me do anything fun.  But Mom, I don't wanna play in the puddle cave.  That cave is for babies!"

Welcome aboard, Aja, and welcome you are indeed.  It is both a pleasure and an honor to make your acquaintance, and I look forward (and perhaps fur-ward) to working with you in this otterly impressive artistic endeavour.

(sweeping bow)  I, of course, am Wanderer Wolf, dreaming denizen and declaimer of delightful descriptions (with appropriate alliteration, also).

Ah.  Yes, Oren really does want you to essay all three of those voice types; that way, he can judge for which sort of dialogue your voice is best suited.  I, for instance, generally play old characters (such as Pan, the elderly otter explorer) and females (such as Fnaire), though I have been graced with the parts of Zac and King Brahm in our upcoming episode.  (I wanted the villain, of course, but I don’t sound monstrous enough.  C’est la vie…)

(Listens to the sample.)

Oooof, I’m with Oren on this.:>  You really captured the sound and timbre of a little kid whining to Mama.  Excellent work!

Eala, sorry to hear about the need for housemoving; I know how hard it is, trust me.  I’d offer to help, but being miles away, y’know…

In any event:  Once again, welcome, Aja.  It’s a pleasure to have you… and not just because it means I’ll play fewer female roles, either.;)

Yours in dialogue,

The wordy, windy,

I love homework. :)

According to the Northern Language Survey of 2006, covering North England:

87.5% of those surveyed speak languages in addition to, or instead of,
English.

Of these:

30.4% consider themselves monolinguists
36.5% consider themselves bilingual
17.0% trilingual
16.1% multilingual

74.3% of the more/other than English respondents list English as their
mother tongue; 64 other languages were listed by the remainder as their
mother tongue.

Well, Otter Island is pretty much dead.  While we've been sitting here waiting for the last episode to get done, the group has changed so much that we don't have enough of the original actors to do the characters.

BUT... we've still got an acting troupe, here.  Do we want to try something else?

Here is my proposal: a series of fantastic shorts, akin to the Twilight Zone.  There'll be no need, then, to have a recurring cast.  who wants to try it?

I’m open to the idea, but I’m not sure OI is completely dead.  From the list, I see:

You

Me

Eala

Benny

Mattrat

Max

Ann

Krupp

That’s most of the cast right there, and we still might be able to get Phelps back to handle Picado.  Since Pan is dead after Ep 9 anyway, I’ll be available to take other parts, as well.  (Although noble flashbacks are always an option.;))  I’ll check in with Kaninus to make sure he made the transition to the new list.

Also, keep in mind that you were about to send the series on a “Road Trip” anyway, as we tried to rescue you from your human life.  New and different characters, revolving around a core cast, would be the inevitable result.

In short:  If it’s over, it’s over, but I think there might still be some life in it.

Yours truly,

The wolfish,

Wanderer

Well, Otter Island is pretty much dead.  While we've been sitting here waiting for the last episode to get done, the group has changed so much that we don't have enough of the original actors to do the characters.

Otter Island is defunct; I can't direct it anymore. Long story short, I've been inundated with so many personal stresses and problems that particularly came to a head since having to move suddenly three months ago, and for which I've had absolutely no luck in getting properly addressed or treated, that I don't have the stamina or confidence to put in the time (typically weeks of work for the later episodes) to properly engineer the show. Sorry. :(

A pity that Otter Island is looking close to death, Oren. Mind you, Twilight Zone style stories sound awesome. I'm up for recording anything, or anything else you might need help with.

Let's not let this be the end of the Riverside Players.

Hey, Ann? Are you still there? You haven't been around for a while. I'm a bit concerned because the transmitter bill didn't get paid. What's going on?

Sorry, Aja.  Allow me to explain.

One member, whose name on this mailing list is "Ann Vole", has not communicated with the list lately.  We are worried.  Oren is especially worried; Ann did not pay the transmitter bill.  This may mean that she does not have access to the Internet.

Ann is okay. He just had to move his computer.

I thought I posted my original email to the Pandora list.

That's confusing; I saw it over here, on the Riverside Players group.

You know, we should really do another radioplay sometime soon...

I'm up for it, but since I started school, I'm way to busy to even write a script. Does anyone else out there want to try being a writer/director?

Man, that could be fun...if I were to do it, though, it probably wouldn't be Otter Island because they'd be my stories, not Oren's. Something tells me maybe I'd better wait on that, though, until I'm sure I wouldn't be too busy, too.
