PUB Rescinds Order Requiring MPI to Hold Safety Conference

The public utilities board has rescinded their order to MPI to hold a road safety conference by March 31st.  MPI has suggested that 1 day be set aside to discuss road safety issues at the next general rate hearing to be held in the fall of 2013.  Read more...

As a result of this recent PUB decision to schedule a day to consider road safety issues at this year’s general rate hearing for MPI, BttF is considering applying for intervenor status at those hearings and is seeking a lawyer who is knowledgeable about cycling and good at arguing before regulatory tribunals.  We have a lot of ideas about what we want to file, but we need to find a lawyer who can do a great job of working with us to represent our case before the PUB, and then file for costs of intervention.  We interpret recent decisions of the PUB to indicate that they will be favourable to BttF participating in this way and claiming costs, but there is a risk that costs are not covered as expected.  The Consumer Association and the Motorcycle Association are currently represented at the hearings in this fashion. If you know a lawyer who fits this description and may be willing to represent BttF on this basis, please send his/her contact information to prov...@biketothefuture.org
