A new release this morning...

As the readme says, it's both big and not big.

Very little code has changed, but the way River5 is built has changed.

Bottom-line for River5 users:

1. Update exactly as you did for previous releases.

2. No functionality changes.

3. Updating in the future will be much easier.

4 New feed-based apps are now easier and quicker to create (the reason for the change).

As with other releases, please give this a try (back up first please) and let me know if it worked or didn't, asap. Thanks!

Dave

It's working for me, after I remembered to do the "npm install" :-)

BTW, from now on you can update with:

npm update

No more downloading the River5 repo.

The only time you'll have to do that is if river5.js changes, but there's so little there, it's hard to imagine that happening.

I had a problem with my older install of River5 on a CloudAtCoast server, so I decided to do a fresh install on a Digital Ocean server this weekend. Everything went smooth, I have a few comments regarding new user experience:

1. When I added my own feeds, I did not see any of them on the home page at :1337 I figured out that there were home page tabs defined in config.json. After I deleted those, I was able to see my feeds on the home page. For a first run user, they might not make the connection to update config.json.
2. During the first run of my feeds, River5 pulled down a lot of podcasts. If a first run user had a limited server, they might have a problem if their disk space fills up with podcasts.

Other than that, the app works great!
