I have an installation of River4 running at http://reader.packetpushers.net:1337. When I use the river.io interface to add more RSS feeds I am unable to save. In the following image you can see where I have manually created a list of feeds, and now attempting to use the river.io interface to add another one.

The new feed is added but whoever I press the Save button nothing happens.

I have checked the log but there are no messages that indicate why it won't save.

Any suggestions ?

Greg,

Thanks for the problem report and picture. I just did a check of a River4 install I have running on Heroku, and I was able to see the River.io console app save a change to one of my lists saved on Amazon S3, so it appears to me that the River4 console app is working.

Can you give some more information about your setup?
1. Running River4 on local filesystem, Heroku, or some other platform?
2. Can you edit the OPML manually (checking for read-only setting on the file)?
3. Did you have the OPML file open when you tried to make a change?

- running on Ubuntu instance on Digital Ocean - local filesystem
- I can edit the OPML manually and everything seems to works fine.
- I did not have the OPML file open.
- I have a shell script for forever to get logs from the river4.js - not seeing any errors there.
- the script is running as root, from root (probably not optimal, but solves any permissions problems.

Greg -

I apologize for not responding sooner. My next suggestion is to turn on Developer Tools in Google Chrome or your browser of choice, then go to River4.io and see what appears in the console window. If you are still having problems in saving, there should be some kind of error message appearing in the console. I tried this for a Heroku/S3 River4 setup and a local filesystem setup on a Windows laptop, and I was able to add a feed in each instance.
