The "Wizard of Oz" opens November 10 and runs for 4 days.  Tickets are $12-$8 and shows are 7:00 PM Nov 10-12 and 2:00 PM Nov 12-13.  This is a massive production for the high school and involves students from all grades.  Auditions were done in August and students have been rehearsing since the start of school.  The River Arts Center has been preparing for the enormous set, pyrotechnics, flying, lights, and special effects that don't normally come with a high school production.  I am looking forward to seeing how the tornado looks.  Tickets are on sale now, but we are expecting them to go fast.  http://supportsaukprairieschoolmusicals.org/

The Sauk Praire Theatre Guild is producing "A Christmas Carol", December 2nd-3rd at 7 PM and 4th at 2 PM.  This children's production, filled with your favorite Christmas carols, is fun for the whole family.  Tickets on sale soon.

The River Arts Center is always trying to keep up to date with changing theatre technology.  This year we purchased a new light board.  The Ion console  from Electronic Theatre Controls in Middleton, WI will allow us to control all of the special effects that Wizard of Oz employs.  We will still use the old board for events like the show choir invitation and small shows like the Sauk Prairie Theatre Guild's production of "Almost, Maine" this winter.

A big thank you to Mary Dickey for creating a new forest backdrop.  It will be showcased in "Wizard of Oz", but we usually have one show a year that can use a forest backdrop.  The backdrop is 50' x 22' , so Mary and the gang have their hands full with that big of a canvas.

The RAC is now on Facebook;  https://www.facebook.com/riverartscenter  Everyone who "likes" us before November 4th will be put into a drawing for 2 free tickets to The Thursday performance of Wizard of Oz.

We are also on Twitter!  http://twitter.com/RiverArtsCenter  This is a great way to get short updates on what is going on the River Arts Center.  I will post info about ticket sales, upcoming events, artists, and parking and traffic info.  I might also post information on discounts and free tickets.  :)

The RAC is available for rentals;  http://www.riverartscenter.org/rentals/ rates, applications, and facility calendar are all available on our website.

Thanks for supporting the Arts in Sauk Prairie,

Brad
