There have also been several balance changes to the roster, though this mainly has to do with bug fixes with special moves. Aside from that, the playable character roster has remained unchanged since the first beta.

Despite already releasing a demo version of Street Fighter 6 as one final treat for players, at the end of last month's Street Fighter Showcase stream, Capcom has surprised players by announcing a third and final beta test for the next generation of Street Fighter.

While we've had two closed beta tests (and a Street Fighter 6 preview session) to get our mitts on the game before now, Capcom is opening the doors to the once-exclusive club "because so many people sent a request during the recent closed beta test", taking to the Capcom website with the announcement of a Street Fighter 6 open beta.

As with any beta test, be prepared for server issues as the whole point of a beta like this is to test out the servers ahead of launch. From my own experience playing the Street Fighter 6 closed beta last October and December, the first few hours could get a bit rough before smoothing out before the weekend was over. Hopefully things will be a bit smoother this time, but it's something to keep in mind.

The Street Fighter 6 open beta preload will be available from Tuesday, May 16 at 8am BST / 3am EDT / 12am PDT . The download will be roughly 25GB in size, as the content of the open beta is set to be the same as last year's closed beta.

It's unknown at this time whether players who participated in last year's Street Fighter 6 closed beta will need to download a new client, or if an update will be released for the current version like it was for the October closed beta client during the December closed beta.

To access the Street Fighter 6 open beta players will need to have a Capcom ID, and link it to any and all platforms they intend to play the Street Fighter 6 open beta on. Players can sign up for and link a Capcom ID on the Capcom ID website. We'd recommend you do this now to make sure your beta experience is as smooth as possible.

Between the Street Fighter 6 demo, which showcases Fighting Grounds and World Tour, and the upcoming Street Fighter 6 open beta showcasing the Battle Hub, players will be able to get the entire Street Fighter 6 experience ahead of its launch on June 2, 2023.

The first beta kicks off on July 23rd at 6:00 PM Pacific for 5 days and is exclusive to PS4 users. The primary purpose of this beta is to test the online net code, as this is something that Capcom is taking very seriously with Street Fighter V. The data that we receive from this beta will help us to improve the net code in the final product, so we thank you in advance for participating in the beta.

As this is a long post that spans several pages, I will give a summary up front: I came away from the beta feeling quite encouraged about the direction of Street Fighter. I've been quite dissatisfied with fighting games over the last 6-7 years, largely because I feel so many companies have been making consistently bad decisions both in gameplay and in the quality of their software. What SF6 showed in this beta, still many months from release, is that they are making very good strides towards "getting it", and that gives me some hope for the future that I haven't had for some time.

3) The important thing: losing all your meter (burnout state) is brutal, but not so brutal that you instantly lose. You lose access to all drive tools, which is a huge loss, and you take (a lot of) chip damage and more block stun, which also sucks, but you're still a fully functioning character that can zone, anti-air, or frame trap, and you can still spend super so big damage is on the table. But burnout sucks just enough that you don't want to dump all your meter, survive burnout because who cares, then dump it all again, repeating the process. One thing Capcom needs to be very careful of, though, is infinite block strings in burnout due to the +4 frame advantage everything gets (or effectively infinite, ie, permanent frame traps vs. all jabs). I saw some stuff in the beta that looked dangerously close (apparently Luke's LP MP HP xx HP fireball can be looped forever if you don't have super?), although I didn't test it myself in training. I'm sure they're watching out for it, and hopefully nothing slips through at launch because it will be a bit of a disaster if something gets through.

Street Fighter 6 has confirmed the characters that will be available in the open beta. Being just a little less than a month out from the release of Street Fighter 6, this open beta will give players access to a variety of great characters from the franchise.

The Street Fighter games are without a doubt some of the most successful fighting titles in the genre. Having grown into an impressive franchise with a passionate fan base, the anticipation for Street Fighter 6 has been building. Both fans that have been with the franchise since the beginning and newer fans of fighting titles are excited, and the upcoming open beta has made that enthusiasm even more intense. Once the open beta is over, there will only be two weeks until the game officially launches, so there's no doubt that many fans will be busy this coming weekend getting a sneak peek at the game.

Many eager gamers will be happy to hear that the character lineup for the upcoming beta is stacked, thanks to a recent video detailing character choices and controls. Players will get the opportunity to choose between eight characters, and some of the most notable characters from Street Fighter will be included in those choices. The Street Fighter 6 open beta characters are Chun-Li, Guile, Jamie, Juri, Ken, Kimberly, Luke, and Ryu.

There will also be two different control types, classic and modern, that will allow players to choose how they wish to fight with these characters based on their level of experience with previous Street Fighter entries. With various players likely having their own wish lists for Street Fighter 6, getting to experience the game with these characters in the open beta will give many fans a good taste of what's to come once the game launches.

Out of all the different games releasing this year, Street Fighter 6 is one of the most anticipated fighting titles. From iconic characters to incredible combat mechanics, Street Fighter 6 may be one of the biggest releases of the year. As the game's launch date inches closer and closer, this open beta will serve as a great teaser to rile fans up even more, and it will hopefully exceed the expectations of many who play the game.

The Open Beta lasts from May 19th until May 22nd, roughly lasting an entire weekend for players to try eight different characters from the game's starting roster. The fighters included in the Fighting Ground and Battle Hub modes of Street Fighter 6 are Ryu and Luke from the Demo, as well as Guile, Chun-Li, Ken, Jaime, Juri, and Kimberly.

The final mode in the Beta is called Extreme Battle, a casual battle feature that sees players face off against each other with several other gimmicks in a match, like raging bulls that knock fighters over. Every one of these game types are at the player's disposal when they join the Open Beta of Street Fighter 6, giving a great impression of the fun fighting mayhem that officially releases in a couple of weeks.

This second beta will officially begin on December 16 and run through December 19 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam, and it will feature cross-play across all three platforms. As for what's available, Capcom lists ranked matches, casual matches, battle hub matches, open tournaments, extreme battle, the game center, and Street Fighter 6's training mode.

If you'd like to sign up to potentially participate in this second closed beta, you can do so here. It's important to note, though, that completing Capcom's application process does not guarantee you selection for the beta. Selection is handled via a lottery system, according to Capcom, and not a first-come, first-served basis. You'll need to have a registered Capcom ID to even apply and it must be linked to your platform account so be sure to do that first thing. Other than that, good luck getting in! The response to the first closed beta for Street Fighter 6 a few weeks ago was quite positive so it sounds like this second beta is going to be a great time as well.
