On Saturday, January 31 (that’s THIS SATURDAY), Martin Havran will be visiting our campus to interact with our students.
Marty was the lead modeling supervisor at DreamWorks Animation for about 10 (maybe 15) years; he is currently working as an independent artist and contractor, and teaches classes for AnimSchool and other assorted venues.

PORTFOLIO REVIEW
From 9:30 – 12:30, he’ll be conducting a portfolio review for interested students. He said he’d like to spend about 10 minutes with each student, and requests that the presentation of the reel be no more than 2 minutes. Students should be prepared to talk about what direction they want to go … i.e., games, vfx, animation, tv, etc, and to talk about what their “Dream Job” would be.
Please announce this to your students in whatever way you can, as quickly as possible. I will find a place to put these reels for ease of access.
Please have your students sign up with me directly – they should send me an email with the words “HAVRAN PORTFOLIO REVIEW” in the subject line. I’ll put together a schedule and announce the location as soon as I have all the information.
Marty is a terrific guy, very generous with his time and his expertise; our students will do very well to show their work to him for feedback. PLEASE NOTE: Portfolios do not have to be “Finished Demo Reels” – that’s kind of the point of having someone like Marty come and critique. Work in progress, best work, work that is presenting issues for you, questions – all of this is acceptable and encouraged.
PRESENTATION
From 2:00 – 4:00 he’ll do a formal presentation (location TBA) about his career, about DWA, about the industry, finding a job, etc. He’ll take questions at the end.
