The Journal of Poverty and Social Justice (JPSJ) is seeking proposals for a special issue to explore Poverty and Social Justice in Africa. We are happy to receive special issue proposals that focus on particular themes, debates or geographies within Africa. This may include exploring government responses to poverty and social justice, the role of the voluntary sector, changing or emerging challenges, geo-political factors, campaigning and experiences of poverty and social justice, or other relevant topics. We expect the special issue to be published in early 2027 to allow time for writing and review, though we will remain flexible.
This presents an opportunity for one or more guest editors to collaborate with the co-editors of the journal in developing a showcase of articles. We welcome submissions from both established academics and early career researchers. The journal’s co-editors are also happy to support and offer advice where needed.
The journal publishes high-quality articles that are increasingly of relevance to an international audience of academics, policy-makers and practitioners. Articles should be methodologically rigorous as well as contributing to knowledge and current debates. We expect proposals to be clear about how the special issue will be of relevance to diverse audiences as well as stating the significance and coherence of the papers.
Please submit proposals by Monday 17 November 2025, by email: JPSJo...@gmail.com
