Praise the Lord,
My Brothers and Sisters.
These days I am on a bit of a nostalgic trip - My son whom the Doctors said will not survive the 1st two weeks of his life is about to graduate Primary school and move on to Secondary School. Come January he will be 12 years old.
Yesterdays Gospel took me back to right where it started : The story of the Woman with the blood disease was the 1st Marker He set in my path to look for him with all that I was/am
I had been told my new born son was dying and that there was nothing in this word that could be done to save him. Realising nothing short of a spectacular miracle was needed, I had spent the entire night re-living my every sin and convinced that Miracles didn't come through for people like me.
In the daze of my misery, someone had taken me to a Pentecostal meeting. I was hoping against hope I would find some sympathy if I spent time in a place where Jesus was present. Most of the worship and preaching went over my head in a blur, the only thing that registered was the story of the Woman wit the blood disease . I went home with only one sentence of the preachers words ringing in my ears " Go home, reach out and find away to touch Him". I remember telling my self, I owed it to my son to try and find away to plead my case and ask for mercy. I didn't know how, all I knew was I had no business to expect to be forgiven. But I was going to try. For 2 days I sang the only worship song I remembered from my School choir days " Cumbia Lord, Cumbia". I sang it with every breath I took, 24/7 in sheer desperation and determination. I am sure every one around me thought I was finally losing my mind..
2 days later someone invited me to St.Peters.. As I walked in with my new born cradled in my arms, hoping to plead my case to Jesus, and to ask Him to spare my son despite of me, I heard the 1st words at the CRL and the only words I needed to hear " Come as you are, I love you anyway". As most of you know, the rest is History....
My learning I would like to get across however is this : In Jeremiah 29:13 Jesus says "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart". I have found in my Journey so far, that if you are looking to hear, He can whisper to you and feed you where ever you are : Through a one liner in a poster at a bus Stop, A by line of a movie, a figurine at a shop window, or even buying a packet of sausages at a super market (Too long a story to tell here).
I pray that He will whisper in you ear to day...
