Dear All,

As I read your emails, I begin to thank the lord for the way he is using modern technology to bind our hearts together. The number of emails and subjects shared on this forum is growing and it fills my heart so much. However, the sheer numbers itself is causing me to loose track of what is being discussed.I hence surfed the web to find out some of the best practices used out there.

For starters, I thought we will just adhere to the following three best practices.  Please note that these are not rules, but just good practices designed to help us engage better.  So here goes...

  • Include a signature tag on all messages. Include your name, and location. Although we send out introductions when you join the group, newcomers may not know who you are.
  • Don't include your email address in the signature, if a hacker reads your posts on the discussion group website you may get tons of spam mail.
  • State concisely and clearly the specific topic of your email in the subject line. This allows others to respond more appropriately to your posting and makes it easier for them to search the archives by subject.
  • When replying to a posting make sure that your reply is still relevant to the subject line of original message. If not, start a new thread by creating a new email and using an appropriate subject line. This makes it easier for others to search the archives by subject.
As time goes by, we will add to this list as appropriate. For the rime being thats it.
God bless you

It is time for me to wear the moderator's hat once again.

I thought I should bring something pretty important to your attention.
Whatever we share on this group can be seen by anyone who visits
Google Groups at the address http://groups.google.com/group/risenlordcommunity
. One of the main advantages of this behaviour is that people who
visit this site may be touched and inspired to join us and be a part
what the Lord is doing amongst us.

But then what does this mean for us? When you share problems, always
bear in mind that others may be able to read it. Temper your emails
accordingly. Especially be careful when you write about third
parties.

If in the past you have sent out an email that you are now having
second thoughts about, drop me an email. I will then remove them from
the discussion group web site. Don't forget, drop me a personal email
and don't send it to the entire group.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.

God bless you

Hi Jayanath,

Could you please tell me how I can send you a private message?
Thanks.

Hi Savi,

I am not sure if you want to send me ( as in poersonally) a private message or are asking a general question on how to privately reply to the author of an email sent to this group. I will assume the latter as it may help others who have the same question.

I will assume that you are using a email program such as Microsoft Outllok Express.. the instructions for other email clients will be similar.

  1. Click the reply button.

Note the To box contains the Discussion groups email adress and not the senders private email address. However the senders email adress becomes visible in the body of the email as shown in the attached image.

  2. Select the Senders email adress and press the CTRL and C keys simultaneously.
  3. In the To box, delete the group's email adress
  4. In the To box, press the CTRL and V keys silultaneously. The senders email address is pasted in the To box.
The message now is a private reply to the sender.
I hope this is what you were looking for.

God bless you
Jayanath
