Hello Folks,

Sorry for being quiet on the Risecamp front recently. Apart from me
keeping busy on other fronts, here is what has been happening

1. Have been sending out invites to various folks. Its been tough to
get people to commit. One problem is for people who live elsewhere
traveling to Mumbai. It might make sense to limit the initial invites
to Mumbaikars, until we manage some sponsorship.

2. I have asked a few people to work on the logo and we should have
something up this week. Soon after we should be able to get a tag
line, a poster and backdrop. Basically trying to figure out the best
options and the best designs.

3. IIT Mumbai to me seems like the perfect location for Risecamp and I
am working towards getting some inroads there. If anyone of you can
help with that I would really appreciate. If anyone can get me access
to the Dean that would be great. Other options that I have thought
about include

- Xaviers
- JJ School
- Prithvi Theatre
- Office of activist organization, NGO etc.
- Others?? Please suggest

4. A lot of people that I have talked to have told me that there are
many other events similar to Risecamp. People seem to want action, not
discussions and ideas. That is the key feedback that I have got from
all directions. And if the message is loud and clear, then we need to
make sure that we work towards something that is more action-oriented.

4. I have been thinking hard about the purpose of Risecamp and how to
communicate that better. As far as I am concerned, Risecamp is an open-
ended forum, unlike many others where you need to pay or know people
to attend. It is not a political front, or a citizen action group, or
an NGO. I basically see two aspects of Risecamp.

- Forum for new ideas towards bringing social, political or civic
change in India
- A platform for organisations, individuals and groups who are
implementing their ideas

5. Although many people in India might feel that it is time for
action, I still feel the need for debate, discussion and more
importantly an avenue where any ordinary citizen of India can come
forward and suggest a different way of doing things.

6. The key here is to make sure that we successfully align the people
with new ideas to the group of people already implementing ideas.
Risecamp can help in this process. I see this as being the USP of
Risecamp. I can see the first few Risecamp's being more of a platform
for people who have already implemented ideas, rather than one for new
ideas. However, over the course of time this should and will change.

7. I would really like your participation in this and would encourage
you to participate. I would also ask you to bring in other people, we
need volunteers and more importantly we need people on the ground in
Mumbai who are ready to help us. Please send a call out to volunteers.

8. Once I have the poster ready, I would like to distribute it across
various offices where people can take a printout and put it up on
their notice boards. Marketing and branding of Risecamp is key and I
hope to spend a lot of energy working on that. I believe that is what
will attract speakers and the best people to this event. If you know
people in marketing, branding, advertising, media etc. we need their
help now. Suggestions please!

Thanks Rahul for posting on your blog.

Hope that we get some more energy into Risecamp!

On the logo front, I can see that you have a logo for Parivartana. Did you do that on your own or did you get someone else to do it?

Hi Neeraj - great to have you on board. I was talking to some guys at
IIy and they said that there might be a problem as exams are held
middle of April.

If you can still swing it that would be great. Otherwise I will start
scouting for other places.

Thanks,

Aditya

Thank you,
IIT-B is a centrally located place, so its much easier for people to
come in from outstations
as well as from other places across Mumbai, so lets see if any of the
venues is available @ IIT-B 4 RiseCamp,
we have conducted most of the BarCamps @ IIT-B, so lets see :)
