to Rise India! Our time is now!
I thought i'd kickstart the discussions on this forum by sharing with
you a personal experience.

Sometime back I went with my friends to an eating joint and we ordered
a tandoori chicken to be delivered to our car. What a grand feast it
was and deep down I was being thankful for being back in India to
savour the wonderful cuisine of our nation.

But what happened next reminded me of the sorry state of affairs
prevalent around in our country. Just as we finished, one of friends
merrily rolled the plastic plate in which we ate and was about to dump
it on the roadside, when I had to intervene and stop him. And he was
shocked. ‘Oh come one bhaji, look around, it’s a dust bin anyway. You
have just come back from abroad but that’s not how things work here’.

Incidentally my friend is also applying to every major American
university as we speak and is keen to make it big in the ‘land of
opportunities’. I wonder if he will have the same liberty there.

Well, I offered to carry the leftovers to the nearest dust bin (which
I couldn’t find). I brought them back to the car, put them in a
plastic bag and took them home with me to be dropped in the dustbin
there. I could listen to the unspoken words of my friends and didn’t
mind being called an idiot, if that is what it takes.

I stayed away from any verbal messages as I was content that my
actions had done most of the talking. I just asked my friend one
question, so tell me about the mighty US of A, your dream destination,
tell me why is it so clean?

There was a period of silence and something assured me deep down that
the intent of my message had been driven home…

The big question that crops up is that, why is that we have become
insulated to all that's going on around us. When will we start
realizing that doing small things right makes a huge difference and
they probably take less effort too?

your views please...

Fist up, it is great that you started an effort to make India rise.
India is by its people and the people must make little contributions
to make India a better palce to live in. We must respect the land we
call the Mother Land...

Hats off to you!

Thanks Amir,
A dream of a new nation lies in our heart and can
be fulfilled when each one of us realises that - 'I am ready to take
responsibility of my actions'. The youth, the yuva, have this golden
opportunity to shape the tomorrow of this nation.

So thank you for being a part of the effort.

Simer

Hi Simer,

This is the same situation that even i always had to face when i am
with my friends. i am always very much
against people who believe that public places in India are open
dustbins. I always try to stop such acts of my frnds thought most of
time they all end up in making joke of my effort to stop them and i
always take the waste thing from them with me to throw in dustbins.
One more problem is that we do not have adequate dustbins available in
public places also so that we might promote people to be more
responsible to maintain cleaniness.

Though now i have decided one more thing that i am going to do. Anyone
who will throw some waste material somewhere infront of me, i will go
aand pick that infront of him and throw it in dustbin. Though i am a
great follower of Bhagat Singh, but i feel that to make someone
realise his mistake you also need to follow Gandhigiri.

So frnds i guess its time taht we should start taking responsibilities
not only to give best for our country by ourselves but also inspiring
people to do so.

Ritesh Sharma

Hello Ritesh and welcome to the group. We need members with your kind
of passion and devotion to the motherland to make us more effective.
Please forward the link to all patriots that you know, so that we can
all connect.

Regarding mixing gandhigiri with bhagat singh's josh, I fully support
you. No one approach can be successful in all circumstances. You have
to use what works and believe actions certainly speak louder than
words.

So my freinds, I hope we can all gather the courage to pick up things
that people throw around in front of them and take them to a dutbin,
silently without saying a word and let our actions speak.

Regards
Simer
