DisablingSeasions But Keeping its Stuff - Want to disable weather or make plants in season year-round? You can do so with my new Seasons Tuner Mod

Improving Sims 4: The past month, I've spent every day tinkering The Sims 4, making quality of life improvements, gameplay changes, and new difficulty settings for the game. If you'd like to learn more about my project, visit the post on Patreon where you can download it now.

The Sims 4 features plenty of keyboard shortcuts to help you do things more efficiently. Remembering them all can be difficult for new players, so this list of the game controls should help you to play more efficiently and maybe do some things you didn't know you could do. You can bookmark this page with Control + D.

Change Camera Type

Note on the controls below: These assume you are using the Sims 3 style Camera. You can change to this camera type by using Control + Shift + Tab or pressing Esc > Game Options > Controls and Camera > Sims 3 Camera. This is easier for Sims veterans as it is the same as The Sims 3. It's MUCH easier to change the angle of the view and rotate the screen. I also suggest you make sure edge scrolling is on, as it's easier to move about the neighborhood, but that is a personal preference. You can still move around by holding right click.

The Sims 4 November 13, 2018 patch introduced a first person mode to the game. Here are the controls for this mode of play. Click Here to Learn More About First Person Mode and see a Video Demonstration.

Build Mode Controls

When you destroy buy mode objects in buy/build mode, you will get some of your money back. This applies whether you are using the sledgehammer or the hand tool with delete. Build mode objects/walls/patterns specifically grant a full refund, as they do not depreciate in value like chairs/electronics/etc.

The Design Tool is super useful for making a room's color scheme match up. By pressing 'R' you can select objects that have already been placed and pick one of the available color schemes for that object. This lets you see how it will match other objects in the room.

Other Controls - Gallery and Camera

Pressing F4 will open the Gallery, where you can view other players' creations and add them to your neighborhood. There is a lot to this, and we'll eventually make a guide to inserting homes and Sims from the Gallery, but it's pretty easy.

There is a new platform tool in The Sims 4. There's also a new Sentiments system, but it'll take some time to create a guide to that. Players can also use rental lots in any world now by changing lot types of builds in manage worlds.

I now have a guide page to Tiny Living Stuff where you can learn about Murphy Beds, the new death, as well as the lot bonuses you'll receive if you manage to keep the size of your lot down with this new pack's Tiny Home Lot Type.

This was inspired by a series, "Let's Play a Super Sim" in which I start at toddler and gradually take on the major bonuses. Here's a link to each part for people who are interested. You can also see the Let's Play as a Playlist on Youtube.

The Sims 4 Discover University has been announced for November 15 for PC/Mac and December 17 for Xbox and Playstation 4 consoles. Click to learn more about the pack, see my summary of the livestream or read our FAQs below.

I want to go a bit further in configuring buttons for my CH controllers (and others, possibly). I realized that some keyboard shortcuts are missing altogether. (I'm not saying: not assigned by me, but missing).

Examples:

- set/select OBS2. OBS1 can be set with Shift-V. OBS2?

- Setting the clock and stopwatch (in the FSX Cessna 172)

- unselecting OBS1. Once you've hit Shift-V, you can use selection-increase/decrease, to set some value (default: it zooms in/out). But their is no way to un-Shift-V, so that selection-increase/decrease again acts on your external view, rather than on the OBS.

Sure enough, folks that have serious cockpits don't use the mouse for this. So how do you configure e.g. a CH controller to act on these things that apparently have no keyboard shortcut in the settings? Any config file to tweak?

I'm keen to download a comprehensive and 'easy to reference' keyboard diagram or chart that I can print and display within close proximity to my monitor and keyboard. (FS2004)Any suggestions as to where I can access one?Thanks...

Down loading planes I come up with one or two gagues missing. Checking back in the download I find the gagues which I put in the gague folder but the gagues in question are indeed missing. Is there a resource where I can possible pick up missing gagues....

Hey,I'm missing some scenery files in my scenery folder for FS2004 and that is why my scenery is acting up and it looks very bad,you can look in your scenery folder and compare to the pic and see which ones I'm missing,if you know which ones I'm missing...

Anyone have any suggestions on how to make reverse thrust work with the CH Products USB Throttle quadrant? Used to use a gamepad before upgrading to my current yoke/throttle setup. I know I can set up a keyboard command but I'm trying to set it up so I ra...

That does still not resolve the issue that it is impossible to to assign a keyboard shortcut to RESET the frame to 1X (normal).Asobo hat implemented a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to

ACCELERATE the sim rate, 2X, 4X etc, and also one to SLOW DOWN the sim rate, 1/2X, 1/4X etc, but I could not find a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to RESET the frame to 1X (normal).

On other sims it is possible TODAY, and it was possible on FSX, a software of over 15 years ago.

Utterly disappointing.

Why has nothing been done in response to this request? SimRateBandit was a great workaround, but sim updates have rendered it useless. I read all the other requests that seemed somewhat unreasonable that got responses, but this simple one is ignored?

In FSX, red letters showing 2x, 4x, 8x, and higher. Using the options simulation rate menu. There most likely is key stroke for it, just never learned it. Absolutely horrible, this has not been fixed yet. Arghhhhhhhhhhhh!.

Most key presses simply insert a characterinto the editor, such as a, 3, or(. Other keys and key combinations act as keyboard shortcutsthat move the blinking caret, delete a line, copy the selection, etc. Keyboard shortcuts are usually trigger by key combinations usingthe Control, Meta, or Command key.

On Windows (and sometimes under Unix)some of these keybindings are actually standard menuitems. Those keybindings will behave according to the menus, unlessthe Enable keybindings in menus preference is unchecked. For example, the C-e keybinding mentioned above actually togglesthe visibility of the interactions window.

If you are most familiar withEmacs-style key bindings (especially on windows or some linux installationswhere the control key is, by default, for the menu shortcuts),you should uncheck the Enablekeybindings in menus preference. Many of the keybindings below areinspired by Emacs. See also Defining Custom Shortcuts for suggestionson how to bind keys to menu items on a selective basis.

C-x r o : Toggles the ASCII art rectangle editing mode. When the mode is enabled, key strokes that would normally break the rectangles instead enlarge them.Specifically:Return and enter add a line to the enclosing rectangleand put the insertion point at the first column of theenclosing cell.

C-\ M-\ c:x;l : traces backwards from the insertionpoint, looking for a backslash followed by a LaTeXmacro name or a prefix of such a name. If a macro name is found,it replaces the backslash and the name with the corresponding key inthe table below; if a (proper) prefix p is found, it replaces pwith the longest common prefix of all macro names that have p as aprefix (unless there is only one such name, in which case it behaves as ifp were a complete macro name).

The Add User-defined Keybindings... menu item in the Keybindings sub-menu of Edit selects a file containing Racket definitions of keybindings. The file must contain a module that uses a special keybindings language, framework/keybinding-lang. To do so, begin your file with this line:

Based on years of experience with Emacs modes, some of the authorsconsider this mode of interaction also appropriate for experiencedprogrammers. Indeed, they go through great effort to mimic thisbehavior in Emacs.

I need some assistance, I have a sparkfun pro micro that I am trying to use to control keyboard shortcuts while playing a golf simulator. The pro micro will type out the correct shortcuts in Notepad, but while the game is going it doesn't seem to register the buttons when they are pressed. I'm unsure if this is a setting inside windows, the game itself, or my programming?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

On a side note, I have a wireless USB keyboard that does work, so it makes believe its something in the pro micro not windows.
