Alternative to High School Program SAVE Institute Alternative to High School program is an accelerated vocational and entrepreneurship-based school that is offered to high school aged youth who are seeking an alternative to traditional high school programs. SAVE aims to provide youth with vocational and entrepreneurship skills and experience in order for them to become productive citizens and be able to provide for themselves and their families. SAVE also places a strong emphasis on character development through community service and agriculture. There is a strong emphasis placed on agriculture in addition to the other vocational trades, due to its multi-faceted benefits to students mentally, financially and spiritually.

Apprenticeship Program The objective of SAVE Institute’s Apprenticeship Program is to assist under-served young adults in gaining the proper training, experience and certification to embark upon a professional career within a skilled trade of their choice. Apprenticeship Trades • Horticulture/Urban Agriculture • Culinary Arts • Construction Trades (Carpentry, Plumbing, HVAC, Electric, Masonry) • IT (Programming, Networking, Hardware Repair & Build) Program Components • Program duration: 2-3 years • Participants work in a full-time paid position within their trade with a partnering company throughout the length of the program • Participants participate in classroom training provided by SAVE Institute in the evenings throughout the length of the program • SAVE Institute’s apprenticeship curriculum is designed to prepare students to pass the trade-specific certification exams of its corresponding professional association.  International Service & Agriculture Experience ISAE is designed to be a life changing experience for inner-city youth. Through this program, youth embark upon a journey to either a country in the Caribbean or in Africa, where they engage in various types of humanitarian service projects as well as agricultural training on farms throughout that country.
Self-Funding Business Model As a part of the students’ training, they spend time working the school farm, harvesting crops, managing the farm store & farm-to-table restaurant, manufacturing value-added products from farm produce and various other aspects of SAVE Institute’s revenue generating business functions. The revenue generated from these business functions, provides direct funding for the school’s operations.
