RIPUL Board Elections

We’re going to have some board spots open starting in 2024! Some relevant information - the RIPUL board bylaws state that “the board aims to match the gender expression of the league membership as closely as possible”. Today we’re unsure of exactly what spots will be available (there will be at least 3) but wanted to get the message out as quickly as possible that we’ll be taking self nominations in mid-late November for a December community vote. The nomination will include a writeup (2022 examples) and a RIPUL veteran reference.
In general, the RIPUL Board of Directors members have the following duties:
-Participate in monthly board meetings (plus additional league meetings: pre-season captains meeting, the Draft, etc)
-Adjudicating escalations from the Equity Committee
-Handle dangerous play evaluations / notifications
-Addressing issues that arise during the season

The time has come! Linked below is the RIPUL Board Nomination form. We will give everyone 3 weeks to get their nominations in; the deadline will be December 3rd.
There will be (4) vacancies on the Board, as the following members will be stepping down: Donnelly Roberts, Ariel Shaw, Kait Thibault, Amanda Khoo. There will be (3) seats opening for WMP and (1) seat of either gender-matching, per bylaws. The remaining members will be Matty Brier, Sticky DiMascio, Jon Kalberg, Oliver Khamky, and Steve Panasuik.
Below is a reminder of the duties that Board members will have in 2024:

After we get all the nominations in, we will send out a form for everyone to cast their votes. The top winners will be announced shortly after.

Board nominations are closed and we received 4 nominations - Anna Carr (WMP), Sydney Lombardi (WMP), Scott Martin (MMP) and Zach Raso (MMP). As mentioned in previous emails, we had 3 WMP seats available and 1 seat for either a MMP or WMP.
Anna Carr and Sydney Lombardi will be joining the board! Welcome and thank you!
The election for the MMP/WMP seat between Scott Martin and Zach Raso starts today! You can view the candidates' positions and vote for them via this link. Voting will close on December 18th.
This will leave the board at 6 MMP and 2 WMP. We are still looking for WMP nominations to fill the 2 years remaining on a departing members term (2024 and 2025). Nominations can be submitted here and will close on January 7. If there is more than one nomination there will be a special election to fill the last seat.
For folks wondering why we didn’t just add all 4 nominees to the board to fill the 9 seats, the RIPUL Bylaws includes language to ensure that the board has representation from both MMP and WMP. “The RIUPA Board aims to match the ratio of gender expression of the membership as closely as possible.”

We will leave the last WMP nomination open for our final spot. If you know anyone that would be a good fit, encourage them to nominate themselves. The nomination period will remain open until January 7th.
