People,

We are busy behind the scenes already this offseason, and want to make sure everyone knows what is going on!

TOWN HALL MEETING
We will again have a (virtual) Town Hall Meeting this year.  The meeting will be open to anyone and everyone to join, and we will discuss any major talking points people wish to talk about.

The Town Hall Meeting will be remote (Zoom) and will be on Thursday October 2nd @ 7pm.  We want to know what things you'd like us to talk about, so please fill out a short form (below) of questions you'd like to bring to our attention.  We will do our best to get to everyone's, but depending on the number of responses, we know we may not get them all.  We ask that you keep the questions appropriate/relevant; inappropriate ones will be discarded.

During the meeting, the Board will go over the questions people posed from the survey, so everyone knows the questions and the replies.  All replies will be consolidated into a 'meeting notes' document that will be shared after the meeting.  After the survey questions are handled, we will open the floor to anyone who has a question based on the replies given.  We plan on the meeting going for about 90 minutes, but it will entirely depend on the number of questions/attendees.  During said meeting, people will obviously be muted to avoid interruptions, but a moderator will allow folks to "raise their hands" during the open-floor portion of the meeting.

BOARD ELECTIONS

It's time to nominate yourself to be on the RIPUL board!  The due date is 10/3 for your nomination.  Here's the form:

NOMINATE YOURSELF!

There will be a few seats opening up on the Board, with seats for DOW, DOM, and DOC players.

General responsibilities include:

  • Formulate ideas to enhance RIPUL players experience (and beyond!)

  • Participate in monthly meetings to discuss and distribute out action items

  • Execute on your action items outside of meetings individually or as a part of a small committee

  • Adjudicate escalations (player safety, equity committee etc)

Some exciting things that were achieved this past year:

  • Have RIPUL become a non-profit!

  • Allowed more baggages to enhance new players’ experiences

  • Increase safety in the league as a whole (0 strikes assigned this year!)

  • Help captains by streamlining pickup requests, having mentors at the draft, etc

  • Host clinics / tournaments outside of RIPUL (DOW/DOC tournament, Halloween Hat tourney, etc)

Items that the Board wishes to work on in 2026:

  • Increase DOW/DOC recruitment & retention

  • Youth Programs and clinics

  • Centralized calendar of year-wide events on the RIPUL website

  • Expanding rules knowledge

  • Your improvement initiatives you bring to the board with you!

The general process is:

  1. You'll nominate yourself using this form by 10/3.

  2. The board will reach out to your reference.

  3. Your answers to the questions will be shared (like this!) with the rest of the league.

  4. The community will do ranked choice voting.
