I've been working for many years on a distributed ledger system for linked data, and it is starting to become usable:

It is not a complete solution (yet) to the problems we've discussed, but a building block, with some flexibility

One thing that the conversations here have made me realize is the value of multi currency entries in the ledger.

Other ripple items such as IOUs, trust lines, and multi hop will get layered on top.
