Hello Ryan and all active members,
I recently read your 2004 paper, Money as IOUs in Social Trust Networks, and also came across your post about how a decentralized Ripplepay system could still be built today using Interledger.
The team over at saluteXRPL are currently building $SLT on the XRP Ledger, and one of their long-term goals is to create a decentralized reputation-based lending network inspired by your original vision—where trust relationships and repayment history can help participants make lending decisions without relying on traditional credit bureaus.
I know today’s XRPL and Interledger ecosystem is very different from 2004, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on whether this is still a direction worth pursuing and what architecture you would recommend. Even a few pointers on where to start would be incredibly valuable.
Thank you for laying the groundwork for these ideas over 20 years ago. Your work has been a huge source of inspiration.
Best,
